Sorry disagree. Today was the first time that we consistently played the ball through midfield. Coutts kept the ball moving; simple is best. Manager singled him out for a superb performance. Fluidity was the real difference today and this is because the side is gelling. Also having some pace up front enabled the midfield to move the ball into space. I agree on Coutts. You don't seem so convinced Joe will flop now. The improved results are down to better selection and side playing together more. I don't think that we are going up, as we don't have proven strikers or ones that stay fit. But the team spirit is good on the evidence of today and I think today's result and the way it was achieved will remove some of that Memorial Stadium tension. It just shows how team / crowd chemistry really matters at this level.

Are you watching the games, supporting the team? Wanting them to win. It will never be perfect, do you think all Chelsea fans are satisfied? Rovers are winning, I dislike Barton but want him to succeed because we succeed. While he is here, negativity however 'realistic' or 'morally right' is unhelpful. The point has been over done. We get it. Today was very good, its down to Barton. If he won the CL with Rovers I do not believe that you would stick to your principles. He brings all of his issues on himself, a lot of bad press to the club, but we are slowly improving and we should all get behind the team. Whoever is in charge Unfortunately, I think he is going to get found guilty of one of the offences which would be typical Rovers when he is just starting to turn it round. If he is found not guilty of both, watch us go. He will have January to add to an already strong squad. Listen to Tom Foley who spoke about his team talks. Do yourself a favour and open your eyes to what is happening gradually at the club. Today was a massive statement of intent and how we can finally compete in this league.

Wow Mango. That's seriously patronising towards someone who has supported (in many more ways than most of us) Rovers for over 50 years.

You are conceding that some of this stuff being said, whilst negative, is morally correct, but you are unhappy about it, therefore, by default, you are advocating for a lack of negativity, even if that strays into being immoral. Geez, what a position to place yourself in in in exchange for sporting entertainment. I pity you. I wouldn't care if he won the CL and also managed England to winning the WC and the Euros at the same time, unless he changes his ways and convinces me that he actually understands what it is that's wrong about his previous behaviour I'll have no time or respect for him or anything he's associated with. I'm only here waiting for the door to hit his disgusting arse as he leaves. As a foot note, so what if the team can compete in the 4th division. It's Barton's fault we were relegated in the first place. Punchy out.

I can't argue with a winning team, but still can't see it. Whelan does what you about ticking along, but I saw Coutts give ball away twice today and go down "Injured" late on tactically. Hey we won and we won well, so what do I know? ....but I see Coutts as weak link in team atm! Agreed re Coutts. When we have either Thomas or a forward fit would prefer Evan's a little deeper instead of Coutts. I’ve given Coutts a hard time but he was 7/10 today. He’s just still a little behind the curve when it comes to decisiveness on making a pass or with his positioning.

Like many, I never expected Joey to get us to the dizzy heights of 14th in league 2. I wouldn’t call it a massive statement of intent and it doesn’t quite match the Dagenham game, but it’s a big step up from being d*cked at home every fortnight and earns him a lot more praise than any other manager would have got for how far he’s taken us. That said, I’m really pleased with the win and would absolutely love to turn over Matty Taylor’s Oxford next. Apparently he limped off today with an arm injury 😂. Barton out

Is there a footballing reason too?

I read a report saying he’d limped off in the 90th minute then an Oxford fan said he had an arm injury. Like putting on a croaky voice when calling work to say you’re not well enough to come in on Tuesday.

I thought he’d been brought in because Barton had been playing Championship Manager 2006 again and thought he was signing the best young players around like Starnesy had told him to

At kick off it didn’t seem like a grant type role, but he was on the money from start to finish.
Northampton third on winning run, we made them look like nothing, like we made Harrogate look like nothing.
Still a challenging couple of weeks on the pitch.

<a fantastic feeling of what it is to be a GasHead. Endeavour. Passion. Fight. A feeling of belonging.>
Endeavour and passion, yes, but it's the wrong kind of fight that invariably ends up in a school playground face-off. Not surprising though with a manager who has a mental age of eight. That is not the Rovers I've followed for 60 odd years.

Not surprising though with a manager who has a mental age of eight. That is not the Rovers I've followed for 60 odd years. That was my quote. There are many different types of fight. I like the one where we were 1-0 down and fought back for 2-1 up. Deservedly. With endeavour. With passion. With a feeling of belonging because most of the crowd made it vocal that we were with this team.. Again, this team mentality just doesn't know when it's beat (as in last week v Oxford away).

Wow Mango. That's seriously patronising towards someone who has supported (in many more ways than most of us) Rovers for over 50 years. Hope you had a great day Grant, but the person who deleted their account came across as having a child’s hissy fit because Rovers won.

No, not patronising at all, and certainly not seriously patronising. I don't know people and their story, same as they don't know me. So why should we care what each other say. Barton resolving his own personal issues is a given and if he were to win the CL with Rovers or even more realistically, promotion to the Championship, I doubt he would be behaving the way he has been and will have learned from it all. I am currently not convinced by that at this early stage. I don't condone him or his behaviour and would certainly prefer a different manager, but while he is here, I will support the team. Any negativity after today is actually pathetic from true fans. If that's patronising then I give up. In the current moment, today, that was a good performance. It does send out a message, certainly better than a 3-1 home defeat to Newport does.
