No, not a prediction.
Northampton Town hold the record for the shortest time taken to be promoted from the bottom tier to the top tier and relegated back down to the bottom again, in the space of nine years. That's some record!
Our record against them is W37 D29 L38. However, we're on a run of 8 unbeaten against them stretching back to 2015. We know what happened that season. We won and drew against them last season and we know what happened then too. 😢
In their last 4 league games, Northampton have 12 points and have conceded 0 goals. We have 5 points and always concede.
Based on that alone, it's nailed on to be nil nil. (Or an away win).
Anyway, as it's nowhere near Christmas - Barton out.

Historically, matches v Northampton Town (for me) have been hard, physically tough encounters filled with gamesmanship, dark art defending and all the things that is negative in 3rd and 4th division.
That said, we've seen some goals..
I see this as again a fixture in adversity....many injuries, no one knows who is fit. It appears we have no recognised striker, and a reserve goalkeeper concussed and unreliable from Wednesday. We were roundly taken apart v Newport at home last time round, crowds are dwindling, we are playing a team that was relegated with us yet have started the season better.
I'll settle for 0-0 now. But will hope for more. Alf and Connor to cope with the physical threat. Nicholson and Evans are key attacking players. If junior brown is out for 10 weeks, why not bring in Jones? He scored midweek...
Maybe pop one in early.... hope for a narrow 1-0 win but it's going to be a challenge.

Based on that alone, it's nailed on to be nil nil. (Or an away win). Anyway, as it's nowhere near Christmas - Barton out. In 2017 we beat Northampton 5-0 & 0-6, (oh for that kind of scoring tomorrow) our biggest ever win was 7-1 way back when, won 4-5 and have lost 6-0, 6-1 & 5-0, biggest draw was 3-3. Northampton Town played at the County Ground from 1897 to 1994, The Bradford fire of 1985 deemed the stand unsafe and demolished, leaving only the terracing. This was then replaced by a small temporary stand nicknamed the ' Meccano Stand ' by fans. The club moved to new ground, Sixfields Stadium, in October 1994. The change of ground did not change the club's fortunes and they finished 17th, with Ian Atkins taking over as manager from John Barnwell halfway through the 1994–95 season. The club's biggest traditional rivals are Peterborough United, a rivalry which has endured since the 1960s. Other significant rivalries include Oxford United, Milton Keynes Dons, Coventry City, Cambridge United and Rushden & Diamonds. Ex BRFC player John-Joe O'Toole had a long protracted transfer saga, O'Toole signed a three-year contract with Bristol Rovers, joining for an undisclosed fee on 24 July 2013. The season proved to be bittersweet for O'Toole. He ended the season as Rovers' top scorer with 15 goals and was included in the PFA Team of the Year for League Two but Rovers' suffered relegation out of the Football League for the first time since their admission in 1920. This was followed by O'Toole activating his release clause with Rovers leaving him free to join a new club on 30 May 2014. Will be a tough game for our boys on saturday, i forecast a 1-1 draw.

I hav'nt heard Joe's pre match chat yet,but I hope we have a forward or two available.
I hope to see some of our away fighting form replicated at the Mem.
A couple of wins and we'll be in the 'chasing pack'.
Looking forward to seeing the steady improvement continue under Joe's leadership.

No but a Hampton is cockney slang for Joey Barton.

And never forget - the first Club to go from tier 1 to tier 4 in successive seasons was bristol city fc. That Club no longer exists.

Ran the line at the old Northampton ground which was shared with a County Cricket pitch. There were no floodlights on the Cricket side and the far side was roped off.The main stand was made of a temporary scaffolding Heath Robinson effort. Can't understand clubs having such meagre facilities!!!!!

From the Manager JB
Manager Joey Barton says Bristol Rovers 'fancy our chances' against anyone in the league ahead of tomorrow's clash with Northampton.
Rovers, who were relegated alongside Town last season, are gradually picking up after a poor start to the campaign, though their home form remains patchy with three defeats in the last four league games.
"The club’s got a great record against them (Northampton) in the past and we probably should have won there last year in a vital league game," said Barton in Friday's pre-match press conference.
"I’m looking forward to the game. We want to be back in our stadium and we fancy our chances of playing anyone at this moment in time.
"Looking forward to this week. We’ve got a cup tie sandwiched in the middle of two really difficult games against fellow teams that are trying to be in the higher echelons of the table."
On facing the Cobblers, Barton added: "Northampton are on a good little run themselves, I think they’ve won four on the spin.
"In our stadium, we want to start to make the Mem a really tough place to come. We haven’t managed to do that consistently enough.
"Away from home, we’ve been hard to beat and we’ve shown a bit of resilience. At home, we need to galvanise our fanbase by putting in a solid performance and winning a game of football.
"It feels like the whole place has turned a corner and I think solid away performances count for loads, but it’s really important we have a solid home performance and we have a really good week this week.
"If we go and win three games this week, all of a sudden our season seems to be moving in a completely different direction than what it was maybe a couple of months ago."
