Clarke used to talk about I instead of We a lot. Barton went from 3 at the back to 4 at half time, maybe should have done so at 30 mins. I don't expect Barton to take a lot of responsibility for that performance outwardly, the only proof will be how we react vs Barrow. Take care of DC glasses, I remember the half time reactions as you do, but they didn't work once all the strikers had gone. They didn't work when he had brought in Nicholls and Bennett. Hey mango. Yes, you're right regarding rose-tinted spectacles. DC did also spend an increasing amount of time publicly criticising the board - something JB is not doing. DC was promised much but never got anything of that so, of course, he got frustrated. I’d have him back in a heartbeat |

Seems like the haters got their chance to really hate today… He ain’t going anywhere, even if we don’t win again until October. Barton was right on Radio Bristol. There is a cancer at the club, and has been for a long time. It ain’t just the playing side of it though, and our level of influence as fans is exactly zero. What wingbacks should be, first and foremost, people capable of doing defensive job, where their talent comes in, and not every fullback or wide player can do it, is then to judiciously support the attack, not just overlap but step inside to help midfield. What Joey did today was play 3 centre backs, and ask attack minded wide players to come back and help out. You will play this 10 times and it’s not always going to be the same disaster, but it will always have a question mark over it, what acerbated it today is players trying to learn systems as well especially as Joey changes from back four to three and personnel in roles. Some defensive midfield ability was out there, but played centrally, the problem for us was defending the flanks. If you dont have 3 or 4 pretty decent wing backs at your club, you don’t set your team out in wing back system. Simples. I’m calling for Grant to be given run at left back and keep it to a back four - let’s at least get familiar with one system before trying to develop a second. Against a team with pacy wingers it’s surely sensible to play 4-4-2. I’d have liked to see that winger f@ck Hoole over time and time again like he did Rodman. Hoole would have put him over the line a couple of times early on and he would have stopped trying to burst down the sides, stop and pass back or inside. Threat nullified. again. |
