Those at ground, anyone in away end boo their own manager in wall of boo as he appeared? One of the facebook groups had a video posted before the game of fans singing: "Joey Barton's blue and white army". A few of photos on facebook, en route to Mansfield, of Rovers flags with Barton pictures on. One: "In Barton We Trust". Another: St. George's Cross with JB bottom right. And a third: St. George's Cross with "BARTON-HILL" across the red horizontal / Union Jack top left quarter (nice to see) / "Banjo Gas" bottom left quarter / picture of JB and "Huyton Hitman" bottom right quarter / and "Light the cigars" top right quarters (bit unfortunate, knowing a previous JB incident). Sounds like these were unlikely to have booed then. So what is the appeal of Barton to these people then, anyone, considering he is a thug and very average football manager at best? Just loving the celebrity factor attached to our club, the “with Joey’s Twitter following we are now a bigger club than Bristol City” quote? What is it that makes someone make a flag supporting Joey, and sticking a cigar on it? I fail to understand. Someone who backs him please have a go at explaining.

Yawn. We lost, Barton blames eveybody else, captain sent off, and Brook am sys to be honest with you every 5 secs and declares we were unlucky. Like we were unlucky in every game we lost last season.

Here's a little game for you to play Bas, name the last opposition manager to be sent off at The Mem, and his club. Check out FTFCs disciplinary record under JB. Wasn't it something about 'discipline' that lead to Barton telling Evans that he was out the door and then being sacked himself almost immediately after?

It is so disappointing, if someone would of thrown that game scenario up this morning and said this is how one of today’s matches will play out you would just know that it was going to be tagged to us, we just seem so predictable.

You must have some idea of his appeal. You voted for Nero.

We have a team that battles. There is a union there and it is strong.
We will have good players coming to fitness.
We'll improve over the next 5 to 10 games.
I think we'll challenge .

Let's hope these players bring some shape and system to our play. Still not seen much evidence of tactics. Start of last season was better. Though still need left back to score.

It really is a bizarre language when you think of it. We got s. We got k. Why do we need c? Too many letters. And magic E? It’s Mik, you my say mick, add magic E and have Mike. But why not just put accent symbol above i rather than clunking E on the end? Phonetically it’s My Key. And I before E except after C - WITH A BILLION EXCEPTIONS. Apart sounding like invented by wurzles, what’s the point of rule with so many exceptions? When you start with Polish, it’s easier to learn as a kid but reading, Reading and many more such words. It’s only really had me understanding since I paired up with my Polish princess. She is finding it difficult but we are getting there. It’s harder, as an adult

But we expect that, in this league. We have had enough experience of it Aside from the ref, we didn’t really have that many attempts on target or off target. . The smack in the back of the head hit its mark tho?

You have moved from sure to think in just one match? Far too early to start doubting Bas. The next six are going to be interesting because it’s not a battling team up against the world the world needs to see justifying the automatic promotion tag - five of the next six all pundits have in a relegation battle. It’s a side who dominates opponents, showing enough flair and creativity and ruthlessness in front goal to win regularly that needs to show itself now. Some aspects of today is really quite good, four at the back, properly manned midfield, when we conceded firstwe left two up at the corner clearly premeditated instruction.

It’s not like Barton is part of some grouping that brings his fandom; not EDF or Britain First (Barton threw his endorsement behind Jeremy Corbyn after previously refusing to vote for the wet weekend Milliband) nor I suspect the Red Brigade have that many members in East Bristol, nor I suspect the National Secular Society would pile in to Mansfield wearing such flags. Nor is it the excitement of signing a proven manager virtually guaranteeing success. He is not a proven successful manager, though he does talk confidently like he is. And none of the anti social and disturbing violence he commits seems to bother his fandom, in fact their flags celebrate it? (Admittedly I haven’t seen the flag with cigar on, just heard about it so may not be true, but it is true they are not just Bristol Rovers flags, his name is being added to them to prove there is this unfathomable fandom). Can the Barton fans please try to explain why you are.? This isn’t trying to take piss or anything this is genuinely trying to fairly sum up and like to know.

We've actually agreed we may have an average start (5 to 10 games I've said) before we get going.

There was a tussle between Hughes and Hawkins in the penalty area in the first half which the ref ignored. The ref decided not to ignore a tussle in the second half injury time. Awful refereeing, absolutely dreadful. The result isn’t Barton’s fault, the referee has had an absolute shocker. But we expect that, in this league. We have had enough experience of it Hughes grabbed the bloke around the waist and pulled his shirt. A daft thing to do, especially as he's 34 and should know better. Of course Barton plays the victim card again and stops the players thanking the officials at the end. Absolutely pathetic, but the travelling fans fell for it and that's what matters to him. The sending off was a bit harsh imo as the bloke did try to push him on the head. Two yellows should have sufficed, but he did lash out in a nasty manner. Wonder where he gets that from? I dislike Barton's style of play and watching a Rovers' team playing like he used to.

Just got back...
Okies.... what a day! It was so lovely being back amongst some of you. Clapping hands, remembering faces, in the away end little space.
Hands - face - space. It was so good to be back. In force.
Mansfield hosted a dignified minutes silence. Well done, them. Because they are fast becoming a bit of a Notts County with angst amongst our two fan bases.
The match... We didn't do enough to win today. I thought we just about done enough to scrape a draw, but in truth were behind the play, on the back foot, chasing the game a lot, looked ponderous with the ball, low tempo attack, didn't play as a team rather a set of individuals and lacked creativity.
I question the starting line up. I know we have almost a team of injuries, but we did have attacking options not apparently considered. Anyway, of little consequence.....we made 3 crucial mistakes that cost us the match.
1. Jaaks came for a cross and didn't collect. Always going to be a problem, and although Hawks beat his man, it was our mistake.
2. What is a mature captain on debut thinking of? No matter what provocation? Inexcusable. Let the team and himself down.
3. The challenge (that was going on all game by both sides) was clumsy and ill timed....he gave the over zealous ref an opportunity to punish with penalty leaving no time to claw anything back.
We conspired to bring this upon ourselves. We have to be more grown up about our approach and although we played ok in patches, Hoole and Anderton made impressive debuts, Harries volleyed goal was sublime, we let ourselves down by 3 main mistakes.
The officials were poor i m o, but we can't keep giving them opportunity to exercise their poorness by constantly making poor decisions at wrong times.
Mr Barton, we have to look at ourselves before anything else.
....but hey it was great getting back to watching cr@p football and singing how good it was!

Commentator we had back here kept saying Barton was shielding the ref from his players, From Hughes, telling them to go to fans instead. It sounded like quick action from Barton prevented another unnecessary card, not that he was doing wrong. There were cards, but on commentary it didn’t come across as dirty or even niggly game. The Commentator was more polite than normal but all through kept saying “what’s going on here”.

There`s no point in asking, you`ll get no reply. I thought at the time, Barton was the best candidate for the job, from the names being bandied about. I thought he`d done a reasonable job at Fleetwood, and I hoped he`d put his colourful past behind him, and channel his aggression into giving the club the shake up it clearly needed. Didn`t work out that way. Au contraire. On and off the pitch, he`s been catastrophic. Relegated in bottom place, and now allegations of wife beating. I`ll still go along and support the club in spite of him. Why some of our fans still identify with him the way they do, I have little idea. I doubt if many will come on to enlighten us either.
