This is a tale of two excellent managers but who’s going to come on top? The story all begun before the War, Covid and Brexit At the time the Gas Club Owner’s hands were tied due to family politics, as a result of that we lost DC, who was arguably the best manager we had ever had. GC was appointed and in fairness done a good job for us. But the style of football was incredibly dull and despite closing in on possible promotion, did nothing to put ‘bums on seat’s’ He left possibly because he felt undervalued by club and fans ( who has gone on to produce ‘jack s**t’ ) So the Club owner, it would appear had already lined up a new kid on the block in BG, it did not go particularly well, and fan pressure forced the Owner’s hands. In this instance somewhat prematurely ( Who has Garnered currently good stint at Swindle) Next appointment was a definite panic job in PT admittedly he wasn’t given long, just enough time to sort out his wardrobe. Finally onto the current incumbent ‘Bad Boy’ JB who continued to live up to his name. He had however started to make a difference on and off the pitch as far as the football side is concerned. Another moment of ‘madness’ resulted on immense pressure from the fans who brayed for ‘his head’ The Club owner, who must have seriously contemplated another change, did a Tammy Wynette Fortunately , the owner kept his nerve and we are where we are now and the anti ‘Joey Jobies’ who do have every right to dislike JB on moral ground’s however unfounded claims. that we have a divided fan base is absolute poppycock. I cannot in all my time watching the Gas seen better football played and games selling out weeks in advance Tomorrow at five a clock, after a battle with Vale, will be wishing DC. all the very best and hope that they can go up by via the play offs UTG

I don't look at this game and think 'DC v JB'.
I imagine recovery from the Good Friday sunshine games may play a part.
Anthony Evans may start, perhaps Josh Grant too, depending on how they feel after their comebacks.
The travelling Gasheads can as usual make a difference.
Is'nt the field at Vale a big one? That won't hurt Rovers passing game.
It's a great to be in this promotion race and I think the lads will appreciate this and enjoy themselves.
Edit. So this is'nt the match day thread?😏

Just been on the Vale forum and obviously they are confident as they have been on a fantastic run. Nevertheless it would appear that several of their players are fatigued and is a concern to some. Also it’s the same ref who sent of two of our players off in the home fixture and they worry with Joey chomping at the bit we might get the big decisions.tomorrow They also reckon 1600 gasheads have tickets but are expecting 3000. to turn up, thus cranking up the pressure and many would take a draw.
Betting wise Vale are evens and we are 11/4 for a gas win and whilst is a good price but for me it’s tense enough without the added pressure of losing money - I just take the win………

I am, how big is this game? I mean, how flipping big?
Big innit.
This is proper big.
As I posted other day, we shouldn’t be as nervous as them, as we don’t have automatic to lose like they have. Automatic a bonus for us. Us just giving it a good go, whilst they piddle about wasting their time happy with draw favours us.
I really fancy us. Whatever points we are on tomorrow evening I would add at least six on it. I think 4th or 5th worse case.
I would still be happier though with a decent number 9 available for the last 4 or 7.

With PV & FGR our next games, i say just go out there, play our normal game, attack and enjoy, 1000's of Gasheads will be cheering you on.
We have nothing to lose, everything to gain, i would be over the moon with 4 points from 6.

Or is that just a 'vale' of lies and mystery... All's Vale that ends Vale . Tough call this. They've strung together five wins in a row to put them five points clear in third place while we've had to rely heavily on a 19-year-old loanee to grab us a win every other game. Even if we beat them they'll still have to lose another game and we'll need to win all four. Not impossible, but Easter Monday games can be notoriously low energy affairs. I predict a 1-1 draw or, if Evans plays, a win for us to take it to the wire and another Accrington scenario where they hit everything but the back of the net in the final ten minutes of their game to hand us automatic promotion. I'm still sweating from that. Barton the manager is strutting right now but will have to keep Little Joey under lock and key during this hectic run-in.

I think Vale deserve to be favourites, but anything can happen. Is'nt it a wide and long field of play up there? That won't hurt our passing game. I remember Vale looked a big team, some big blokes. They might get tired,a wee bit slower. Aarron might like that (about time he scored ennit). I wonder if Josh Grant and Anthony Evan's will play? Josh may now be ready for 90 minutes and Anthony fresh , while others may really feel the last 20 minutes or so. I think Joe is walking and talking as usual. The "strutting " is in your imagination CPB.He's got Rovers flying right now and I think he can handle the pressure. As for Darrell I think I read he'll watch from the stands/directors box/seats for the rest of the season ,as he settles back into his job.Everybody sends him a hug.x. Another big game and it's great to be "challenging".👍

All a little ambiguous just repeating what some are saying on the Vale forum . On the Vale Ticket Office it’s still taking on line booking until 2,30 for two areas of the ground. It s unclear nothing concrete about paying at the ground, which begs the question will Gas fans be able to access Vale parts of the ground……………

If next Saturdays go to form then we play Rochdale away on the following Saturday a win will put us one point ahead of Vale who don’t play until the Monday home to Newport ( not a give me) Vales last game is away to Exeter who just might be in for the Champs medal Come on Gas 3 lovely points please!

Having lived in Staffordshire for 50 years prior to retiring to Devon,I am very excited about today.I contacted the club to advise against not to put netting on the seats like last time as it caused mayhem.Being a Staffordshire Cop for many years,I hoped they may take notice but the Health and Safety have replied-very polite- saying they do intend to 'Net Off' a section of the away end. Biggest pitch in the league and Billy Bob loved it last time there.

I'm not sure who the other one is? As a manager you are judged on your achievements, and Barton hasn't actually achieved anything. As for GC, he actually told you why he wanted to leave. It was a job closer to home and he missed his family. There was a way to go around leaving, and he went about it in entirely the wrong way.
