Nothing to do with furnace, wheel or archaeological digs. Rovers have played them 8 times, the last time in the league was a 2-1 home win in 1970 in League Division 3. The first time they played was only 3 years earlier. The last game was in the FA Cup in 2016 where they won 2-1 a la Mem. Rovers have won 4, Barrow 3 with 1 draw, which we would possibly all take after last week. They lost 6-0 at home to Villa on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup. Nothing less than the same scoreline will do after last week Joe. Villa classily donated their share of gate receipts as opposed to 3 of the goals.. Their ground is 1km from the train station, the station is 4 light years away from Parkway however. They are the Bluebirds as a homage to Cardiff City obviously. They are managed by Mark Cooper, son of the late Terry. They were founded in 1901, have a capacity at Holker Street of 5,000, only 1,000 seated. They were one of the last teams to be voted out of the league in 1972 before the trap door was introduced in 1987. They are the only team to win promotion back after being voted out. Luke James plays for Barrow.
Famous managers include: Ron Yeats Brian Kidd David Johnson (ex Liverpool) Ady Pennock David Dunn Ian Evatt.
They won the Peter Swales shield in 1985 !! Best league performance 8th div 3 in 1968. They currently lie 16th having won 1 game from 4, a 3-2 home win vs Hartlepool. Last season they finished 21st, 5 points from relegation with 50 pts, the same amount Rovers went down with in 2014..

I think I was the only Rovers fan who liked Luke James. Is he getting games at Barrow?

When they ended up in the bottom four and fell through the trap door ,other perennial re election candidates like Rochdale and Halifax survived as when the voting took place clubs simply didn't fancy the trip that far. When I ran the line at Rochdale they assumed they wouldn't get re elected for the umpteenth time and got rid of the staff. When they (against all the odds) got re elected,a little old lady took over as secretary and said,'If I've done out wrong love, don't say anything as I'm doing it temporary and love the job'. They have improved their little ground since the very early eighties unlike some!!!!!!!!!!! It was also the only match I did in 12 seasons where the Match Day Programme was duplicated and not printed on glossy paper. Peter Madden was Rochdale manager. Back to Barrow,Luke James will no doubt score but he was one of our many non scoring strikers. In fact just about to score at Coventry with only the keeper to beat and he fell over.

I watched them get a hiding from Villa’s youth side on Tuesday. They have National League written all over them. Then again, so do we.

I've watched once for 90 mins as well this season against League 2 opposition. They are set up to play an aggressive no nonsense game backed by a very animated Mark Cooper who got sent off so touchline antics could be interesting on Saturday.

Interesting reading Football Hackers atm, which talks about Thomas Tuchel, who plays to counteract the opposition's formation by practicing alternative formations.
I don't think JB does this as he very advocates playing his own game.
I do believe he has a handle on performance stats and buys people in for their underlying stats as well as character and goals etc.
I think with time it will work. Not sure he will get it.

Finley, talking about the upcoming game with Barrow (Club Video) when asked how training went this week in light of last weeks thrashing, he replied that JB has gone back to the ‘drawing board’ .

So, do we go the next 7 unbeaten in league taking 15 from 21 points. The fixtures sit up perfectly for it.
Barrow a - should get something Crawley relegation candidates h - we will win Pool a - toughie, but why not a draw Orient h - covid victims Harrogate went there and won, but why not a home win Walsall relegation candidates a - we will win Swindon h - doesn’t bear thinking about losing, there will be loads of aggression to Ben and lots of pro Barton support in this noisy derby fixture, I predict win Carlisle a - why not at least point
