I watched TW on twitter. Appears to have trouble with his teeth. Looks like he’s just come in from a night at the Hacienda. Loving the insistence that we were better today than we were at home against Gillingham and that we were the only team who controlled periods of the game , sounded a bit like Garner trying to insist we were the better team despite losing by more than 1 score. Defeat has obviously dented his hubris somewhat. That being said as much as I don’t like the way he goes about things I’d rather not chop and change and hope he’sIn charge for the remainder of the season and he keeps us up. I agree 100% with your last sentence.

From the interview - we were the only team who dominated that, although they had physical dominance.
I can’t argue with that. Because I haven’t the foggiest what it means.

He's a big part of the structure that put this squad together, he was signing their praises on Tuesday, he can show us just how good they actually are.

Yeah I loved that, if I had to guess another sly Widdrington-ism that we were the quality side while all they had to offer was brute strength, a centre forward who knew how to use his body and players that could make a situation look like something it wasn’t to the referee.

I think the sensible thing to do would be to appoint TW until the end of the season as he is the most likely person to get a tune out of the players. If we stay up we can appoint accordingly in the summer and the same if we don’t stay up. I would imagine we may want a different manager depending on where we find ourselves. I also think that appointing externally will mean another long term contract dished out as most coming in will want a decent contract length and will want to overhaul the back room staff. Whilst I’m not a massive fan I think the sensible appointment is TW until the end of the season. I’m not sure TW wants it though given it would make his overall position difficult if he fails to keep us up and also having a board member managing the club would be a pretty unique position. I was told that TW would stay until the end of the season if he won today but probably wouldn’t if he didn’t and we would see an external appointment next week! I did ask what would happen if we drew but there was no response!

Interesting and a little dis-spiriting if true because it does ask the question is he retreating to the safety of the boardroom in the event of defeat, especially after publicly backing the recruitment so much? Win = take the glory, lose = wash his hands of the squad...?

Whilst I am critical of how the club have ended up where we are I do recognise it’s a difficult decision to make at this point. I just feel committing to an external appointment now will be costly and may not end up in us staying up and therefore the best scenario would be TW staying on as manager abs trying to keep us up. That may not be the best scenario for TW and I respect and understand that. I reckon the in the next 2-3 days we will see which way we are going.

That takes us back to where we were under the last board.

Looking forward to the post match interview and acknowledgement that we lack fire power at the top end. I wonder if Tommy can pull a rabbit out the hat? I don't think that's not fair. I thought Daly/Hanlan/Ayunga were a real handful. We really should have gone in 1 if not 2 up after 45mins. Gills made 3 subs at HT just to try and change the shape of the game. We were still on top. Just one piece of idiotic defending and the slowest striker in League 1 walks through our flat footed defence. Baldwin had an absolute shocker. Partly responsible for the 1st goal. Gave away a stupid penalty. Fell over the ball and let it run out of play more than once. Mindless balls pumped up the middle. Managed to get himself booked where there was no danger whatsoever. Could have redeemed himself, but with a free header 5 yards out - couldn't hit the target. I'm beginning to think Jonny Burn isn't the worst CB we ever signed from Sunderland. This was not a bad performance. Didn’t Burn come from ‘Borough? Didnt get the breaks today. Akinde always scores against us and we never beat a side managed by that fat pig Evans and we rarely beat Gillingham.. Today was a nailed-on loss I’m afraid.

1 shot all game. At home, and going behind with still a quarter of the game left, and only managed 1 shot in the 90+ minutes.

I thought we deserved a point at the very least today. I certainly saw signs that we may escape relegation but at the same time can see why we are a lower third division side. I have always been slightly baffled when, after a win or defeat, forums (not just this one) and social media are full of suggestions that the result 'prove' a posters opinion. It was one game in a long season, we are a team in the bottom half, there will be more days like today, but hopefully a few more like last Tuesday.

Blimey, I did remember it correctly! 👍 I saw it as Mauge being targeted by Hessenthaler leading to him to be on the floor in the first place, and Mauge was silly enough to react and it was the retaliation which the ref saw, including the theatrics. Mauge was stitched up like a kipper.

Okies.....we didn't get what we deserved!
How many times can we say that this season? We had the best half chances, hit the woodwork more and played well without drawing anything from the match.....in most other matches involving BG and PT this season we've got exactly what we deserved.
I kinda disagreed with starting lineup pre match....we should go 2 up front, not a 1 or 3. That's just me, old fashioned...
Also, I disagreed with subs at the end which helped conspire for Gills 2nd....no one marking or tracking Akinde (a captaincy organisation issue?) closest man was Hargreaves whom had just come on. A naive sub change, it looked unforced, that cost us the match but we had many half chances before to make a difference.
Having said that I think we performed ok and well enough to get a draw, but the ruthless finishing from Tuesday appeared to have been used up.
Another penalty save (albeit poor) from Day.... Excellent!
Bottom line is two draws v Pompey and Gills would have been acceptable....we accrued more points and played well in both matches. Bitter sweet. Important run of games next.....it looks like TW gets the gig for the foreseeable.
Widder Tis the right shout, only time will tell...

We may not be thrilled with our manager situation, but at least ours managed to stay awake through the entire game today!

We had 20 shots at goal today, (Liverpool had 15 shots, 72% of the play and lost 0-2 to Everton)..incredible, out of 35 shots not 1 goal.
It will be 4 out of 7 to go down as there is now a 7 point gap opened up between the 7th bottom to the 8th bottom.
They are Rochdale, BRFC, Swindon, Wimbledon, Northampton, Wigan & Burton, the Dons & Wigan have 2 games in hand.
