Almost exactly 3 years ago Darrell Clarke led the Gas to a thumping 6-0 win at sickfields. Should have been 7, but we let Nichols take a penalty. No prizes for guessing what happened next. None of the starting XI (or bench) is with the Club now. A front 3 of Harrison, Gaffney and Bodin, who scored 4 between them. This is undoubtedly a massive game for Ben Garner. A win will shut up the critics (well some of them, for a bit). A draw will not go down well. A loss will see a meltdown. I just can't see where the goals are coming from. Northampton will be in our face. I am concerned. Fingers crossed, if Jaakola plays well, we might nick a 0-0.

A front three and away from home!, those were the day's, they seem so long ago.
We are slow, predictable and Leaderless, Garnerball 0 - Curle's Cobblers 1.

I like our No9. He looks like he can beat a player. It would be nice that he has some support. I'd like to see 4-4-2. I think BG should be allowed a couple of games v teams that will be mid table. So far we have played 3 top teams, saying that though we need to look more penetrating regardless.

We have played Northampton 102 times - Pld 102..W 36..D 28..L 38...Pretty close stats.
We have not lost to them for 7 games, winning 4 of those 7.
We have won 7-1 & 6-0 and lost 6-0 & 6-1, with a 5-4 close win too.
Should be an interesting run out on saturday v the Cobblers & Keith Curle.

One thing i really liked about the conference team was that most of them were still playing for the club when we were pushing for a play-off space in our first season back in league one. I felt like i knew them to a degree and could relate to their different personalities. I miss that period of stability and familiarity.

I agree we should give him these few lesser games, although Lincoln have started well.
Northampton are allowed to win, but so are we.
I am not sure Ben thinks he has the right to beat these teams and is still playing a 'result doesn't matter philosophy' as he has been told his job is safe.
Even to the extent of taking us down to bed in this culture, but why sign those players, how was he able to sell the dream to Zain Westbrooke and Sam Nicholson who before long will wish they had joined Portsmouth.
This is a must win game, no doubt. I don't believe the Keith Curle factor will be a thing. From what I have seen Rovers are due a win and can kick on, especially if round pegs are played in round holes.
2-0 Gas

Very heavy rain forecast from now until kick off. I think we'll get through the weekend unbeaten. Looks like a match postponed situation...

If the game goes ahead I just have a feeling that we might bounce back with a win following all of the uproar from last Saturday's turgid performance at Doncaster Rovers.
However, if we do lose or draw then I wouldn't much fancy being in Garner's size nines !

I see the Cobblers have signed an experienced striker today Danny Rose from Mansfield Town.

Something I like about Garner is how he doesn't pretend to be a smart man in interviews. He looks unhappy in his work. The pressure has got to him.His team is weak and lacks identity. He should of already been sacked, for his and Rovers sake. His reign has been a thorough disappointment, from the start to now. Rovers 0 Cobblers 2.

Today is the day. Slippery pitch, promoting slick passing against a leaden footed defence.
