"Heroes".It sounds as if our young lads gave it their all mango. That's excellent.I only listened to Radio Bristol, but it sounds like a performance that can unite team and Manager with the fans.Happy for Ben Garner. One or two signings more might help again. They dug in where last season would have given up. It's that fighting spirit that gains points. It builds character and a team I'm pleased to hear we fought.

Great result but the stats are shocking. Garner is trying to build a team that sunderland achieved stats wise from a very poor performance. Rovers won't win many matches with stats as poor as that again. We went 5-3-2 and defended admirably

Garner has said sunderland were very good on the day. Sunderland supporters have said that they were poor. Perhaps garner should have been a politician.

There was no match thread at 13:52, so I've interrupted my listening to Talking Heads, "stop making sense" rather loudly on youtube to start one. I'm forgetting the week gone, it starts here. Presumably we start with a striker which is already an advantage over last week, I'm hoping for 4 at the back, but I know I will be wrong. Midfield to press more than last week, at 5 we all feel happier about our prospects. Last year we won our 1st league match of a season? Tense and nervous, can’t relax ? Very good. I'm a tad disappointed, yes we didn't lose. But the inability to get hold of the ball in the middle was really bad,we weren't playing man city. Improvement on last week defensively and hanlon was excellent. Who's are ball winner?

Today he is a little shoot in a pot on a dirty bench, towards the end of the season he could be a fine bush with long green phallic things dangling from him. You know what I mean.

For me, the result outweighed the performance. We done well sticking defensively to last gasp clearances, blocking shots on the line and Jaak making some great saves and interceptions. The siege mentality kicked in and that's encouraging. Apart from the penalty, I can't remember another clear cut chance in open play apart from Ayunga shot over (which I liked his own creation). It's the best competitive match where more players were involved and done things, particularly impressed with Leahy contribution, and I thought Little was much more pro active and effective. The ref appeared to make a howler (how do you call him a homer with no crowd?!) and possibly 8 mins was too long, but justice delivered in sending off later in match. Still very unconvinced with BG set up and his response in real time to opposition threats. All the stats again appear against us possession wise (maybe to be expected) and even though we were under the cosh defensively, I thought it was a more secure performance by the 5. All in all a tricky away fixture navigated reasonably ok, and well done management and players for bringing back a valuable point! Not every club will leave Sunderland with something, so an excellent effort. I look forward to you saying 'just got back..' again. 😔

You shouldn't have to dig in after going in front so early. The game should have been put to bed. Absolutely, but away from home, Sunderland were frustrated, the sending off non-decision was key, everything against them, they stuck at it and deserved at least a point. There were some nearly moments in the first half from set pieces and Rovers definitely caused them problems with the front 3. The out ball from Kilgour to Nicholson is going to be a thing. SN a bit unlucky to be subbed.

We won the first half, they won the 2nd, not only on goals but on performance. Sunderland fans are like the 1982 fans, if not 5-0 up after 20 minutes they get on their backs. They started poorly and did not give us any respect, so we came away with a well deserved point. Should have been more if not for the wrong Wright decision..

For the more eagle-eyed of you, sometimes the just got back was days later. From a home match!? Oh for the bounty of the Gloucester Road..

Seconds before the Sunderland lad got sent off,i think it was Cian Harries, in our penalty area,Sunderland player closing in on goal.Brilliant double tackle then clearance while on his backside.
He looks a very good footballer to me.

SN a bit unlucky to be subbed. we watched different games. Rovers put in a poor footballing performance in this one, which is the main sequence critics want to see broken. If Nicholson got pace and something about him, then it’s to come because he has not shown it yet. Maybe the performances and formation isn’t helping him to. The front three are not playing close to, and using each other. To be fair to guy who was rightly hooked on the day for more press and less expanse, maybe he’d more chance to shine in a 442.

I've only seen the highlights of yesterdays game. Are you suggesting he's not so good, you don't mention anything good he may of done?

I think we saw plan B yesterday instead of the high press game that we got caught out too many times last week. Credit to Ben for having a plan b. The team has to play with adaptability, 3-4-3 is 5-2-3 or 5-4-1 when we haven't got the ball, then 3-3-4 when we have it. But yesterday they were at home and had a lot of possession but did nothing with it for long periods. We were defending a lead from the off and had to stick to that eventuality, even if unexpected. We saw the same game, just different opinions. I might be wrong, but I am a glass half full person with Rovers.
