This is the poorest defensive performance I can recall for a few seasons. Not something I was expecting. Give it a few games of this without success and we need to go to old school 4 at back.

Why on earth did I get up at this ungodly hour to watch this?
On this performance, we have a lot of work to do if we're going to avoid a relegation scrap.

Maybe we're saving ourselves for the waste-of-time cup

Mick Mills just forecasted we look bottom half of the table material. Hard to argue with that on this performance.

Well Ayunga looked better than I anticipated and Westbrooke is decent.
They struggled with the shape and no goal threat or hold up player.
Biggest positive was that I could listen to radio flatlands, if we get any praise from the home radio we have played well. I stuck rad brizzle on with 2 mins ago and they started banging on about positives and making excuses.
Need a striker pre Sunderland or it won't be worth watching.

Trying to pass, but give the ball away too often.I would play Harries. Also Hare from ko. Westbrook looks okay.
Virtually nothing upfront. Weak.
Ipswich dominated.
Difficult to believe in.
A decent striker is needed.

That was "the Garnerball". Tippy tappy with no real threat. Defensively weak. I don't think Kilgour is a left-sided CB (his positioning for the 1st goal was awful). Baldwin had a nightmare start, but got marginally better (apart from forgetting to mark anyone for the 2nd goal). Bloody awful commentary from Mick "mogodon" Mills. The front 3 ran around a lot with no real threat. Nicholson could be the new Kyle Bennett. Oh crikey. I was looking forward to this game. It was rubbish.

A decent striker is needed. Yup. My back 3 would be Kilgour (RCB), Ehmer (MCB), Harries (LCB). Marginally better when Ayunga came on and we had a focal point for our attack.

Harries looked comfortable at LCH,classy, can pass. I would like to see our flank players get more ball, attack. Get a striker and we might pick up a few points up. Edit.Agreed on the 3 CHs.

Reaction after BG interview and watching a start stop iFollow.....
BG out. Cliché .... What's the journey got to do with the performance? Is he saying that preparations weren't good enough? If so, as a manager what is his remit? Will it be the same v Sunderland?
The man's a fool and taking us backwards.
* Before anyone thinks it's only one match, it isn't. We're you at Southend? I saw the same match. We have not progressed, we were poor today. It's ground hog day.
BG out.

Playing at Ipswich with no crowd sounds ideal. Anyway, 3pts next sat with a new striker and top the league on alphabetical order this time next week and it's all forgotten.

I thoought Baldwin Leahy and Grant had stinkeers. not an expert but do you play two wide attackers and two wingbacks? thats a large percentage of your players stuck in the corners of the field

Baldwin poor. Can see why Sunderland and Salford didn't want him.So sad that Davies is injured.Rollin was better. Don't understand why with Little and Leahy playing so far forward we allow ourselves to be so wide open at the back. We were outmuscled all over and had no attacking threat at all. Nicholson and our goalie did ok but 9 passes at the back when three nil down and we are still in and around our own box says it all.Missed Sercs and can't see where any goals will come from on this display.Too late to retain Ogogo? BG might be an academic but if my under 8's team conceded that second goal,I would be asking why our entire team decided to allow him a completely free header ? BG laments we didn't take our chances!!! What chances were they? Must have blinked.

I wish they would just call it the League Cup. I've gone and bought a match pass for the 'waste-of-time' cup on Tuesday, by mistake. Caribous and Elfs; I'm all over the place. S'pose I should get started on getting my tenner back 😒 Oh yeah, what a load of rubbish that was (the Caribou one). Loads of buffering up north. #UTG Good luck getting your tenner back Dave.I tried to get mine back (pre ko!) for todays game. Radio Bristol from now on.

It’s something that has put me off for a long time. I tried it and had buffering , lack of commentary and it really was p155 poor. The next time, I went to a mates place, who used a questionable source and although not brilliant, it was much better than the legal one. I want to help the club but it seems the concensus is that it’s very hit or miss or mostly miss. I expected the result today and I have low expectations for the season. I would even go so far as to say a quality striker wouldn’t make a huge difference, not when the game plan is lacking, to try and play pretty. Although not a huge fan of the GC game, it always feels much better with a W against your record. I fear this season could be a bad one but what do I know, really ?

The problem I have with this post is it's a refabricated post since December. And the poster obviously wasn't at Southend. Complete denial of the facts in front of you, just put complete faith in the next project (a la DC) and when that doesn't work, churn out some other cliché. It hasn't worked. It isn't working. We have sold out prize asset without replacement. This is third division football, not FIFA 2016, it doesn't work playing in third division without any strikers! FFS..
