Well it's not something new to him, he got Yeovil promoted from there. Useless manager, took over a team at the end of March and couldn't even keep them in the 4th division. Who does that remind me of?

I think we will win, lose and draw games next season. Some we probably shouldnt and some we dont seserve to.
If we finish mid-table i will be satisfied. This season to me is about re-establishing ourselves in the league

This season to me is about re-establishing ourselves in the league And when we win them, some will claim we are destined for promotion , when we lose them some will say DC and the squad aren't up to it, and when we draw some people will complain about boring mid table mediocrity

The headlines in the Sunday Indy POOR ROVERS IN DEEP WATERS ! Says it all ....Fun day let the fun begin
We had what I would consider eight in the side who if fit will play against the Cobblers. Mildy is far better than Puddy and Easter far better than Blissett

Man Utd beat Barcelona yesterday, so that's next season's Champions' League sorted out.

My post has done what it was intended to which was to get people discussing the FOOTBALL again after months of off the field boredom!! Roadmans Chaffeur great to read your assessment three times lolol. Great input from everybody whether you agreed with all, some or none of my comments. Particularly interesting to hear the views of those who did go yesterday. Roll on two weeks time when hopefully we will have three points on the board and lots of positives to take through the winter. Where has the summer gone!!

I am surprised regarding DCs lack of good quality signings and amazed we still don't have a winger or an accomplished striker.
To balance that .... Chris Lines is a great addition ,Montano and Clarke will add something definitely. I hope we sign Billy Bodin !!
I was gob smacked that we consider £1500 per week too much and it's really apparent to me now just how much financial damage Higgs with his 'over the rainbow fantasy' and Watola with his total incompetence in understanding how football and finance go together have done to the club.
Genuinely believe that the very best we can hope for now is Consolidation ..... Sadly one decent winger and a striker who is not permanently injured or who has a true nose for goal could have got us into the play offs.

So on the flip side, if we had won 6-0 you would have been jumping around the living room raving how much of an epic result it was?? I somehow don't think so.
It was a workout, another chance for players to get 90minutes in the legs ready for the season opener. The result, goals, goal scorers mean absolutely feck all.
Panicking over a meaningless pre season friendly?! You need a dooby, White Russian and the attentions of a good woman!

Friendly, yes, result not important, yes, and yes I will wait until the cobblers match to judge whether this squad is actually capable of making the step up to div 2; however, I do not understand, while stating for months we need a winger, why DC has not brought some body in ? to go along with all this team building, fitness, bull**** excuses. Just saying, only time will tell. So you will judge the teams prospects for this season in the first 90 minutes of the season then, well that is a fine and appropriate response to a thread titled laughing stock. I too can't understand why DC isn't spending the vast wads of cash being thrown his way by the wonderful chairman, it's a total mystery isn't it.

There was a "yoof-ish" match against Cribbs or Nailsea, (depending who you believe), on Friday evening.

SteveK set a high standard in OTT posting but he has been easily trumped by Somerset Blue with his - "...Sadly one decent winger and a striker who is not permanently injured or who has a true nose for goal could have got us into the play offs..."
"Could have got us into the May 2016 playoffs" in July 2015. Chances written off 10 months before a ball is kicked meaningfully!
My gob has never been more smacked.

Danny Greenslade played 90 minutes at Cribbs on friday night then 90 minutes again the next day at Cheltenham, his body must be hurting today. My only complaint of this pre-season is that we've played to many games with BRFC XI fixtures included, with a small squad. On the subject of new signings, DC said he wanted 4 or 5 new faces, J.Clarke, Lines, Montano & Bodin coming in means DC has kept to his word, plus Lucas & Greenslade seem like they are going to play a more active role in the squad this season. I much prefer the policy of using the budget wisely rather than lump it on a few players and let the kids make up the numbers, it leaves room for anywhere between 4 and 7 new loan players coming in over the course of a 10 month season, not forgetting the January window where we can get players in who have terminated there contracts elsewhere.
