His Rovers team 'thumped' Harrogate. I’d hardly call a sable goal a thumping but whatever floats your boat Hey KP,I hope you're okay. I was carrying on with the 'thump' analogy. Apparently Rovers deserved the 0 1 today. Played well.

No it is'nt,but after the unnecessary cascade of criticism Joe has recieved from some on here, they deserve to have it pointed out that, given time Joe Barton can succeed. Wake up. Drop the pillars of society stuff and help create a football club that can succeed. Maybe you should address that to Wael. He obviously feels the same way so you would find some empathy with your feelings on this BUT remember, we have had some one game winning streaks before so don’t get too excited Basel. Even a broken clock is right, twice a day. My own feeling is that piece of scum bought in old and past their use by date, thinking just experience would do the trick but he’s been proved horribly wrong. Get a 2-3 game winning run and even i could say maybe you have some substance to your posts but i remain unconvinced and angry that the vile being is anywhere near what i used to call our club, its far from ours now and the fact that nobody wrote an apology prior to his, speaks volumes of the club, in its current guise 4 away games unbeaten is improvement.

Quote from Gas Chat. "...but we pull off probably our best win since Ipswich away under GC." This just goes to show how far we have fallen if we are comparing Harrogate to Ipswich. Barton out! Hard to believe someone would think that let alone write it, was shopping the Kingswood today and met a lot of people who would normally be away, with the rovers. Not surprised but just made me realise just how bad things have got

You're determined ain't ya TWD 🙂 I think we are as bad as each other Bas, just at opposite ends of the debate. I want him gone and the entire place wiped down with disinfectant. I say stick with Joe. Separate his court stuff from his job at Rovers. Salute the rank, not the man. Give Joe another year and the power to remove people not singing from the same sheet. Watch us get promoted this or next season.

Will Evans and Nicholson extend contracts? Who else will be out of contract, most of the squad? Grant, Harries, Leon Clarke, Pitman, the Finn, Alfie, Brown, Whelan, Coutts, Hughes. Probably quite a few others. Some will be looking up the table(s). Still let's enjoy the rocky ride this season.

I don't think that other supporters really care about who the manager of Bristol Rovers is, or was. Managers are only in post for a relatively short period of time, whereas Millwall have had about 70 years, or more, with some of their fans causing problems on a regular basis. We've done this any number of times and I've posted links to the reaction of other clubs' supporters to Barton. Yes, people don't like JB - however, that is him, not Rovers. When he moves on, people won't be saying "I hate Bristol Rovers, they had that Joey Barton as their manager 5 years ago" - hence it cannot be compared to the dislike which people have for Millwall fans, which tends to be permanent. We may not like to admit it, but we're a bit of a non-entity as far as fans of other clubs go.

I cant cope with the radio bristol commentary, I'm fed up with talking about it, but for the record: 1. The constant "to be honest with you" by Brookman, along with "the greatest of respect" two of the most annoying and pointless statements in the English language. To be honest with you that was a bad challenge, to be honest with you we deserve to be losing, just ******* say it man. Maybe I'm turning into a miserable git but it winds me up. 2. The inability to tell us where on the pitch the ******* ball is. It's radio, we can't see it, so wheres the ******* ball you *****! There was a game I had on earlier in the season when I didn't even know that the opposition were in our half, and then they scored just like that, like magic, a few short passes when they were around our box but bizarrely I thought they weren't in a danger area as nobody said where the important inflatable thing was. 3. 5 mins of listening to radio 5 and you will hear them give the ball position repeatedly, I don't understand why it's so difficult for them to state the ******* obvious. That's it. I'm fine. I'm in bed watching Harry Potter on a Fri night with a furry elephant from Thailand and I'm absolutely fine. Yes, this sort of thing has been going on too long. I'm often hearing things like when ... we've got an attacking thrown-in, then there's some waffle from the commentator or pundit, then they break off to describe a goal and it takes a second to realise it's for the opposition. Similar thing happens in cricket nowadays. Back in the day pundits were aware John Arlott wanted them to stop talking when the bowler was at the top of their mark, so he could describe the run-in to the crease and delivery. Rather than Arlott's poetic descriptions like: "So it's Botham ... in ... like a shirehorse cresting the breeze...", we now get a hasty interruption of the pundit's inane waffle just in time to shout: "Bowled 'im!". Reminds me I read that in the early days of radio football commentary that they put a chart in the Radio Times, divided into 8 boxes, and when they said the ball was in a certain box the listener could follow where the action was. It has been used as suggestion for the origin of the phrase: " Back to square one." But I'm with Michael Quinnion on this, and think Snakes and Ladders is more realistic for where it came from. www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-bac1.htm

Watch us get promoted this or next season. The charlatan took over as manager when we were outside of the relegation spots. He then managed us to the bottom of the division above, where many of the players he kicked out still play. Then over the summer and into September, he told anyone that was daft enough to be taken in by his crap, that we would be promoted this season. You want to give the bellend another season? Right. Barton out.

My instinct is that he's not going to be convicted in either of the scheduled court cases, but there will be a lot of media attention either way, and mud sticks. Then if he is convicted there's more reputational damage. Why on earth is this being allowed to happen to our club?

Do you still use a steam radio, and you are just letting off the steam?

Watch us get promoted this or next season. Bas, I admire the way you stick to your ideas about JB and you do it with good grace. You’d be a good man to have alongside when it gets tough so good for you. 👏 But even if we separate the court stuff from the football stuff he’s on borrowed time on the football stuff alone. It was a good win today, perhaps one of the best of his time and you’re right, we are putting a few results together. But we’ve had some horrors this season and a good result at Harrogate doesn’t change all of that. I’m glad we put in a good performance but that doesn’t excuse the woeful tactics and poor substitutions already this season. The other stuff, well, I’m not sure WAQ worries about it, or even if the club are aware of it (that’s a joke I’m sure they are but after last week....) There has been reputational damage as others have said but nothing I say will change anything and we’ll just have to let the justice system do their stuff. I don’t worry what fans on other forums think, they’re hardly an accurate measure of what people think JB has always divided opinion and I wouldn’t expect other clubs’ fans to say anything good about him or about us whilst he manages us. They haven’t before, they won’t now. But after today, well done to the team and JB for a well deserved win. A much needed 3 points for BRFC. String a run of 3 or 4 more just like that and we’ll be looking at the top rather than the bottom. And then you may get your way but I remember what WAQ said when this second court case was announced, guilty and he’ll be gone. UTG!
