It could and probably should be 5 or even 6 nil at half time.
That's the worst we've been all season, which is worrying because I said that after Accrington too.
A defeat here isn't the end of the world, but the sudden drop off in our form is puzzling.

Heads up gas, let's stay positive. Matty Taylor brace in the second half, Gaffers gets the winner!

Expectations that newcomers will make an instant impact, maybe a little optimistic.

A change to 4-4-2 when we were seemingly a viable threat at 5-3-2 plus the incoming players haven't been the pivotal signings we need. I think that the ongoing contractual talks are a factor too. That said, most of us said we would be ok with mid table. Just very disappointing when we have shown real promise.

What pivotal signings did we need? We got Gaffney who has made a difference, brought in an experienced midfielder, a different striker and brought back our most experienced keeper I would agree changing the formation seems a bit odd and perhaps unnecessary

Knew this was going to be a tricky one but 3-0 to Pompey is very disappointing.

Few players can say they had good games to day, Mildenhall, Lockers and Leadbitter probably the only ones who can hold their heads up.
We looked very slow going forward and cagey and predictable. From the off we only attacked down wings and put crosses in through the middle we never carve out any opportunities.
Easter and Lawrence had night mare games, struggling to see what they they bring to the team. Lawrence certainly should be starting, used for 20 minutes at the end to sure things up if we are ahead maybe, furthermore can't play him and mansell together.
Had enough of ranting after watching that. On to the next game.

I have no problem with it as budget is cut to shreds. Have to say that I am more than a little worried now as this is a slump by any standards. It's not just losing but the manner of loss and strange tactics.

It's not just losing but the manner of loss and strange tactics. I'm still waiting for someone to justify this 'budget cut to shreds' nonsense. Barring Puddy, every player on our bench boasts significant league experience including McCrystal and Lines who've played much higher up the league. Plus today we had Gosling and James Clarke who couldn't even make the bench. Remember the days of our bench being Mitch Harding, Josh Southway, Pat Keary and Shaquille Hunter?

It was a poor performance. We were second best in all areas today. If it wasn't for Mildenhall, who made a few outstanding save, we would have lost by a lot more. I think this was a reality check in terms of our promotion credentials. We were not good enough and never had enough fight our nouse to break a good Pompey team down. We did. Ot force a safe from their keeper until Montano passed the ball to him with a few minutes to go. I think we will end up ninth or tenth. If we make the play offs we will have done really well. That said, even tenth in our first season back is respectable.
I did enjoy the day as my friend sponsored the game and the corporate hospitality was really good. Not as good as Rovers of course!
