Yesterday was exactly why I love football.
I'm an adopted Gashead, born in Cardiff, watched the bluebirds for 10 years in the 80s before moving to Bristol.
I went down the red half for 5 years before changing allegiance when I started going to the Mem with the missus in 99.
Best decision I ever made.
Rovers fans are realistic about their position in the pyramid. They applaud effort even if the team doesn't always win, they just demand that effort.
This season we have had it in spades as well as THE best football I have seen there.
I have been away at Walsall, Swindon, Vale and Rochdale this season and the atmosphere has been incredible, especially after last season.
It goes to show that going down and keeping faith with a young, very progressive, extremely ambitious and influential manager, is sometimes the way to go and is worth sticking with.
Another mid table in L1 without Barton surely would not have topped this.
As it is, I genuinely feel we have a chance of going up next season.
We don't have to be his best friend, but as a manager he has come through.
I took a break from this forum because I believed in the team and could not stand the negativity of one or two after we had beaten Northampton at home after being down to 10 men.
Ironic.
We remained unbeaten against all of the top 10 in at least 1 game and crucially took 6 pts off Northampton.
Up yours.
I am glad to be proved right and will argue the toss with anyone who says otherwise.
Evans player of the year, followed by Belshaw. Love Coutts and Finlay, orrible both of them.
I will never forget yesterday's scenes, then all the singing and drinks on Glos Rd.
Here's to next season.
