Forest Green Rovers scored in the 96th minute to draw 2-2 with BCfc82ersltd, then won 6-5 on penalties.
Rovers v Cheltenham stats - 0-2, 54% to 46% of play, 5 shots to 18, 1 shot on target to 7.
We don't have to wait long for revenge as we play them again on tues 31st aug at home in the EFL Trophy.

I had lost interest in this game before ko.
Just as Bristol Rovers did and have done in ko competition for sometime now.
Rovers are not the only club that feels this way about cup competition.
It's the way of our professional game.
Why the surprise it was rubbish?
As I mentioned in the thread opener, pre ko it had the feel of extended preseason.
Ko competition has become the new 'reserves' game.
In this modern football scene, where Rovers and other FCs can't be bothered, why should we?

Odd that arguably the best team in the world go for it every time and invariably win it.

Odd that arguably the best team in the world go for it every time and invariably win it. What's odd about their 'reserves' being better than smaller clubs first 11 or other clubs reserves? What's your point? Are you doubting clubs don't take this competition seriously? Rovers Cup record under DC eg.DC was happy to get these games done, dusted and lost. The Chelsea game came after I think we knew,if we won the game before,we had Chelsea away.I think, not 100% sure.

Highlights show Glos Robin's by far the best team.
First goal we allowed them to pass through us the length of the field. Awful from our point of view.
Defence looked sleepy for the second.

Not a game any of us expected to win surely and a good time for players to get minutes ahead of the proper game on Saturday. Of course nobody would expect Bristol Rovers to beat Cheltenham Town. Not if one is in a higher league. Would you expect Luton to beat Sunderland?

For a club like Man City, a trophy in February is a confidence-booster in their run-in for bigger things and gives them momentum. Brian Clough understood the value of that too. He could think outside the box. For clubs like ours there's nothing like a wee cup run to get the place buzzing, and let's face it, we need that more than ever right now. We made the quarter final twice back in the day and the place was rocking. I don't buy into the dour, pragmatic approach towards cup tournaments. It's anti-football.

You are all missing the point.
What the game showed that there is no pattern of play that will allow us to be an attacking force.
The inability to play the ball through the midfield, with any pace, was embarrassing.
Barton - the toughest time of my professional career - his words, not mine, is metaphorically "on the ropes".
He needs to SHUT UP and get some results as his credibility as a football manager is waning. Keep an eye on the shots columns, as they tell a story of a stuttering style. We are simply not set up to succeed in League 2 - poor management.
As I said above, I predict that he will be gone before the Court Cases.

I think Barton played the best team available to try and win the match, resting some players who he decided needed it or need to be watched with niggles or age. Coutts was banned for this game which is a bonus considering it's only 2 league game we will miss him for. We are a L2 team drawn at home to a L1 team and we have a few injuries, especially up front. Klopp is very good at not rushing players back and we will feel the benefit once the injured players are back, we must not rush them.

Is it just me that is fuming after watching the post Cheltenham interview?
JB is talking like he has just arrived at the club and is trying to sort the "mess" out. He is complaining about the high turnover of players and the injuries.
These are problems that HE chose to create. He chose to start again rather than build on the existing team.
He slated the Ben Garner pre-season for creating unfit players, and look at where we are now. Having to play youngsters and players widly out of position just to field a team.
Fuming I am. I don't like all this complaining and excuses from the manager.
Yes, it is still early days and I will reserve judgement on JB until the end of October at the earliest.
If we are to be promoted, we cannot afford to write off the months of August and September just because players are not fit.

Rich, it's part of his own myth...he is some kind of Messianic genius, everyone before him was second rate, he needs more time, the officials are against us, non-believers are heretics.
The man is a fruit bat.

I stopped watching them last season under Garner and Tisdale as they were painful. Bartons are honest and a bit more entertaining, if depressing.

I had lost interest in this game before ko. No you didn't. If Rovers had have won you would have been running around in little circles with your willy out showing everybody the Barton tattoo you've had on the shrivelled little thingy.

Am not going to compare your behaviour to Barton but yours is not much better with posts like that, in my opinion. All about being a decent person.
