Heartwarming to see the uplift in self-belief, compared to the Gills game. I couldn't remember the last time Rovers won 4-2 away, so I've looked it up. Any offers? Bristol City (A) After Extra Time in a League Cup 2nd leg tie in the early nineties ? Not the last time, but well done for bringing up that memory!

Have just looked (didn't check the Conference season) - Dagenham and Redbridge 2012/13.

That's the one. Monday 1st April 2013.
John-Joe O'Toole and Oumare Tounkara put us two nil up in six minutes. Danny Woodards made it three after 20. Daggers got one back through Ben Strevens, but Tounkara found the net again to complete the scoring for Rovers. Jake Reed got a second for the home side.

Now, the first time was 1903 against the Darksiders (Glos. Cup), and that was after TWO replays. (0-0 and 1-1) It was also the last season our Red friends played at St. John's Lane.

Disappointed that he didn’t stay with us. Can’t remember why not?

Crikey - we really have been a bit starved of good football!
We were very good and it is evidence of a big step forward from the incoherent dysfunctional football of the Garner era. But let's not go over the top - it's one game. Wimbledon looked bafflingly poor. Let's see us replicate this a few times before we start talking about promotion and the 'Tisdale Revolution' - we've seen enough false dawn. It was a very positive afternoon though.

My life that was one of the coldest away fixtures I have been to....they gave us the best stand but it was freezing....

Did the ref explain the reason for the pen? looked to me [on the highlights ]as though the "offender" was being tackled by the Wimbledon player coming away from the goal!!

Don't remember it being cold, and wearing shorts to all games (bar Southend away a couple of years ago) I usually remember the chillier games. As someone else mentioned, Tounkara looked 'world class' that day, then disappeared...

I watched the match again on iFollow, this time with the home team's audio. A full 12 seconds elapsed between the moment of the incident and the Wimbledon commentary team realising that the referee had given a penalty. There was a couple of seconds delay in synchronisation, but even so, I think it suggests that the only person in the ground who thought a penalty was even a possibility was the referee. I agree with you. I've played the incident back a dozen times. The Wimbledon player lunged for the ball and was already off balance before Zain Westbrooke had moved. I think the ref saw the Wimbledon player on the floor and assumed that he had got there by means of Westbrooke, instead of by his own lunge.

I was there, what a day, first time we took our kids for an away game, very lucky to watch it, lovely atmosphere

I thought that if you looked at the ref was half looking away. I think he saw a player tumble out of the corner of his eye and assumed he'd been impeded.

Just checked weather in that day (as I'm ultra sad!) and the maximum it got all day was 5°.....but to me it felt much colder and exposed to wind in that big stand. Until Tonks decided to go mental...🙂

Bristol City (A) After Extra Time in a League Cup 2nd leg tie in the early nineties ? I was there too, amazing turnaround from the first leg My memory is that after 90 minutes, Ray Kendall came on to the pitch with a tray and a teapot, so as the lads could have a cuppa, whilst the City team (about 20 yards away) were getting dogs abuse. I had a close-up of it, as I was sat in front of what used to be called the grandstand. Was laughing my socks off (to myself). I also remember Wayne Allison ballooning a chance over the bar to make it 3-4 on the night, with only a few minutes left. If that had gone in, It would still be eating away at me.

Can you believe we were actually 1-0 down too? At half time, I think... I was gonna leave at half time because in that open end, the heavens opened up! Funny, because getting on the railings at the end, most had decided to leave in the home side of the open end for some reason, and chose not to listen to our taunting! Amazing night..
