Wow, fair play to those that went today, rewarded with a dramatic win (always the best sort)! It was absolutely fantastic to be there yesterday, it was a real classic match in every respect. They are a very good side. We are a rapidly improving side. Our crowd (around 25% of the total) were spectacular. The ref was awful and I don't mind an awful consistent ref, but this twat was all over the place not two consistent decisions. Our players may not have been quite as slick but they were more determined. We had goals sending offs fights injuries they were generally dirty Easter marred our performance with his dive - he deserves a go at panto this christmas. We grew in strength and unity, you could see it ebb away from them (they did go down fighting though). Total of 11 mins of extra time through both halves. Absolutely a privilege to be there. I recon they will still beat Yeovile on Tuesday though! That is exactly how I saw the match as well. Rovers are now believing in themselves and confidence is growing in the team. I still think we need 2 more players in the squad to give us more options,a big old fashioned smash em up type centre forward would be the priority. I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday and although I see this season as steadying the ship and would have been happy with a mid table finish I now think that IF they can consistently play like they did yesterday and at Morecambe then the play offs could be possible,early days yet though.

I thought their stewards were very good, handled seating arrangements well without any jobsworth spoiling the occasion or getting over aggressive  |

Crakin away day. A bit puzzled by the policing though. Our 2 coaches where escorted 20 miles from mansfield by 4 motorbike out riders a riot van and a patrol car! Straight through red lights and round abouts blocked to get us through. Celebrety status at last!!

There had been trouble in a couple of pubs and in the town centre as a welcoming party of 30 with no colours were waiting near the train station
The police then decided to direct the coaches and mini coaches to the Sir John Cockle pub
The trouble started early about 11.30 ish when some Gasheads in and near the Railway Inn were angrily approached by this gang

Re Matty Taylor, my four pennies worth, we have a player who scored nearly a goal every other game last season, at the business end of last season, when it counted, almost a goal a game, this season it's 5 in a dozen or so games. Now if some on here want to act like tits and behave like sheeds and constantly look for the missed chances than the goals then I hear Ashton gate is developing into a nice ground, but at Rovers we normally celebrate when our team wins and praise players when they score because we are used to years of mediocrity, the facts are Matt Taylor is becoming one of our most successful strikers, get used to it, stop acting like sheeds and get behind the gas because the threads on here are becoming like our neighbours website, Matt Taylor will score you 20 goals a season, and probably miss that as well, but if he didn't he'd be playing for Norwich or Leicester by now not a average league two side.

Following on from previous post...
I'm a fully paid up member of the Matt Taylor fan club...could even be the president of the fan club.
Top player and when he doesn't play I always think we miss him.
Problem for some on here is they have backed themselves into a corner with their views on Matt Taylor and Darrell Clarke for that matter and they will find it hard to backtrack on their very opiniated views and admit they got it hopelessy wrong.

No indeed, there most certainly is not. But looking at the league table we are currently lying in 11th position in League Two, with 19pts from 12 games played. This leaves us 3pts outside of the play-off's and 11pts away from the relegation zone. But things can go wrong so quickly can't they. Belts and braces called for here I think. In my mind your first target is always about 55 points. From there on you can start planning beyond, but until then it's a race to the safety line. I always look for around 50 points. I think that supporting Rovers has made many of us look upon the points with caution simply because we have been so close to relegation that it becomes second nature. I have to say though, I never believed that we would ever go non league but...., I now think that it will prove to be a seminal point as we move forward. I think that we got a lot of TV and press coverage, albeit for the wrong reasons though I think that we may have even attracted attention from prospective buyers. Our away support was phenomenal and that one season really brought back the old backs to the wall attitude that we showed years before. Having said all of that, I genuinely now am allowing myself to believe that we can get a play off spot and even maybe, if we can strengthen the squad like last season, we can maybe get an automatic spot. I don't think we need fear ANY of the other clubs. |

Well said Nick, Saying sorry and I got it wrong seems to be too much for some. I was one of those who would have a dig at MT's misses and DC's team selection. I am more than happy to say sorry and glad to be proved wrong on DC. For all my faults, there are many, I have never had a problem of redressing my past comments and in saying I got it wrong. Great post mate although I think this particular Rovers forum is nowhere near the utter tripe posted on OTIB and is a much nicer place than gaschat. I don't say that to have a dig at the other forum but am just stating a fact. You only have to have a brief look, to see how often threads degenerate into personal insult and schoolboy behaviour. |

We arrived just after 12 by car and after wandering around had a swift pint in the Midland behind the station,a proper sh1thole. Then we walked via the grim backstreets to the Sir John Cockle,at 14.30 the police got everyone (except for 3 of us) onto coaches and mini buses with an escort of motorbikes ( 4 ? ) cars (several) and took them to the ground. After the game they locked a gate and told the people who had come by car and parked where we were told to that we had to walk all around the streets surrounding the ground to get back to the cars. Masses of police in the area from the away supporters end to the main road but after that none,of course we then marched straight into the Mansfield fans leaving the ground and heading to the town centre. So basically the police channelled us into the (pissed off) opposing fans some of whom were their Stone Island wearing 'lads' (all over 40),we got some nasty looks but walked through them and nothing happened,just as well as there were no police around there. Now obviously this was some master plan by the police that I am not bright enough to understand,the alternative is that the large police presence was a waste of time and money and clearly that cant be true.

Strangely enough and I'm not sure if it was because I was on my own but I was in my colours and with my Rovers scarf clearly displayed around my neck but the Police allowed me to walk past them to the short cut behind the retail park where all our cars were parked so only took a couple of minutes to get to my car and on my way out past the entrance to the ground I saw many of ours fans who I had been sat with having to walk a long distance to get to their cars. |

Masses of police but when I spoke to a few of them they didn't know the area as they had been drafted in from Nottingham
There was no police to be seen when we arrived early in Mansfield and no 'away pubs' the police only arrived after skirmishes outside the Railway Inn

Quite a good match report however he missed that the ball had definitely gone out of play for the corner, so Jenson was quite right to be booked for protesting it hadn't and Lockyer was slapped across the face by Pearce not with his boot. He also missed Lockyer being pushed/thrown to the ground after he had got to his feet following the slap and then Sinclair being given the same treatment. |

That was the problem the Talbot was for Home fans only but we had over 800 travelling but absolutely no information from Mansfield to help away fans
It seems the police knew there were a lot of trouble makers but had nothing in place until problems developed in the town centre
If the Sir John Cockle pub was to be used by away fans why wasn't it broadcast and signs put up

I stumbled across a pub called the 'Brown Cow' which happened to have a beer festival on. They had some lovely ales and ciders and couldn't have been more welcoming... about 15 mins from the ground |
