Yet again we were beaten by a single goal by top of the table, free spending Pompey. They were the best we have seen this season and they beat us - no shame. Had Easter put his shot in rather than onto the post, it would have been just the boost of confidence he needed. I thought Ellis looked sluggish and unhappy yesterday, not the player we saw for the last 9 months. The big plus for me was Bodin, he looks like he should start to me.
In all, I would have been very happy with a draw against Pompey, it was not to be and we were not shamed. The standard of football is markedly better in d2 than it was in 13/14.
I am not without hope but I am afraid hope will come with an improved strike force, Taylor is not up to it and he needs to be sold along with Blisset. That should free up some cash.

It's not an excuse to accept that we were beaten by a better team with better players with a better manager, that's just how it was

Portsmouth were the better side and deserved all three points; unfortunately, we have already lost five games this season, four at home before the end of September. Time to look at our own failings, as currently we are in a mess; and already look like bottom seven side rather than DCs top seven. UTG

My view from the Dribuild Stand ...
- Lost by the odd goal to an excellent team, who on that showing should storm this league. - Nice passing football from both teams - we had our moments on top. - Ollie Clarke was my pick in the first half: tackles, interceptions, coming away with the ball, and simple off-loads. One occasion was from very deep on the edge of the penalty area, and I was just about to say well done Tom Lockyer, when I realised it was OC. Towards the end of the first half he did badly over hit a long pass, and got caught in possession once, but I thought he was unfortunate to be substituted and guess it was a sacrifice to change the formation, which wasn't working in this game. - Chris Lines had another good game. He's always looking to be on the ball, clever touches, and intelligent passing. This a refreshing aspect, and an improvement on several years at Rovers, where we now have players looking to get into space, make themselves available and wanting to be on the ball. - Great to have Danny Leadbitter get through a full 90 minutes, and a surprise seeing as though he didn't even make the midweek reserves match. Not quite 100% but not far off it. - Sincs doing what Sincs does, with non-stop running and his boundless energy levels. - I'd agree with others that Tom Lockyer should probably have been MoTM. - Until he scored (if he really is given it!) I thought Jermaine Easter was struggling: caught in possession; misplaced passes; giving away free-kicks; trying to con free-kicks, the worst when he went down without being touched and grabbed hold the ball (the lino and ref correctly gave hand ball against him). Having said that, I still think he will be good for us, with his energy, chasing, harrying, and being a nuisance to defences.
