What a awful game of football from us,I can't even remember us having a shot.what Taylor was doing when 1 on 1 and beat keeper I never no.

Men against boys.
We seemed to think we were still playing part time auto electricians and van drivers. Northampton were stronger and half a yard quicker than anybody we played last season. We need to adjust quickly.
Taylor should be off to somewhere like FGR or Eastleigh, that's his level. As was said all last season, it's OK missing open goals against Alfreton, but professional footballers aren't going to give you half a dozen chances in every game.
I counted 1 attempt on target in 96 minutes, and I'm not sure we had any shots off target either?

and boy, did it show. They were too quick for us, and they were too strong for us. Couldn`t fault the effort that our players put in, but skill? Forget it.

We seem to have too many Conference standard players for whom the step-up is simply a step too far.Didn't score in a number of friendlies and to-day never even came close.( Except for Taylor's howler)

CLUELESS TACTICS
First half we seated our shorted two attackers to play against a team of giants, then we lobbed high balls up to them for the whole first half
So what do you do at half time?
Carry on the same way, the idiot is someone who does the same thing and expects different results.
Later on, DC Put on Harrison and then Bodin, not to much avail, Harrison knows he should have done better with his one chance he did get.
We force one corner all game and looked like kid in the playground against the big boys who did us over.
The lad from Brighton came on and looked brighter than Montanaro who looked as though he had the flu or something.
JJOT was their best player and he took a lot of stick from the gas faithful but unlike some returning players never gave the finger to the crowd when he went off to a torrid of boo's
Anyone disagree? I would be interested to hear.

That is a really good attendance for the first match of the season, it's a good 1,500 above what I would have expected. |

That is a really good attendance for the first match of the season, it's a good 1,500 above what I would have expected. And after that no-show by the team and the manager there will be plenty who won't be back for a while. |

i thought northampton closed us down and pressed us all over the pitch and we had no answer to that and it meant we played endless high balls to small forwards which was frustrating.
that said taylor made a terrible hash of a great chance and harrison missed a decent chance.

Our top goalscorer that season where the manager failed to take 8 points from 8 games, 5 of which were at home. |

awful match, terrible tactics, totally outplayed by a strong physical side. The only plus about this match was the superb playing surface, the best I have ever seen it, pity the players didn't do it justice.

The tactics were wrong, long balls to thier 6"3+ centre backs was never going to work- felt sorry for Easter as he was working hard and on occasion did get the better of them.
In the first half Leadbitter and especially brown were working hard to get wide I to positions to receive the ball from SM, he ignored them so many times, in the second half it almost seemed they thought "why should I go hareing off to create space, and you ignore me again"
Overall it wasn't that bad, they are a solid team who knew how to close us down quickly and not allow us to play.
Biggest disappointment today for me was some of the fans- straight on Taylor's back- straight on DC- even the usual sack the board/where's the money gone.
If we go on a bad run come October/November DC will be hounded out by these dips**ts who think as they are good on FIFA and easily get rovers promoted all the time- they know better.
