I don’t think i can remember an attendance this poor though. The pizza trophy, yes but not the FA cup Strange days, KP. Some people stay away because they don`t like the manager. Some people stay away because of Covid. Plus, as has been mentioned, the FA cup isn`t the crowd puller that it used to be. Not unless you draw one of the big boys. True yet i cant help but remember the excitement we would feel it we had an away FA cup game and one that sticks out for me was versus VS Rugby. That was an interesting day to say that least and we took well over a thousand and to a non league opponent. We just about got through but it was anything but easy. I cant remember if we drew or won but i do seem to remember they either equalised or went in front and it was a very nervous game

Delighted we won this one but I have a real fear of us getting the likes of Man City at their place in the next round.
Yeah, it will be a great away day but I suspect a few records may be broken... and not in our favour.

I'd sooner lose 9-0 in R3 than go out in R2.

Spurs went on to be promoted that season finishing 3rd - promotion achieved on goal difference over Brighton. Spurs goal difference was 34 while Brightons was 25 - a difference of 9.

A strange ground on the side of a hill, no real stands, just some roping off here and there ! VS scored first and were dominating proceedings and were it not for Jeff Meacham equalising within a minute of their strike I think it would of been another cup embarrassment. The final whistle drew cheers of jubilation from the travelling faithful as they chaired what looked like a gardeners potting shed out of the ‘ground’ ! …..We won the replay by five if I recall.

Our side that day. Nigel Martyn, Nick Tanner, Ian Alexander, Vaughan Jones, Geoff Twentyman, Jeff Meacham, Ian Holloway, Ken Hibbitt, Phil Purnell, Devon White, Gary Penrice.
Sigh.

KB saying 1st half a very lacklustre performance from Rovers sounds bored really suggesting move to a back 4, adding Hoole, and need some guile up front/move the ball quicker I didn't go, so can't be certain - what I've heard (Radio Bristol) and read, things improved after we moved Whelan out of a back 3 with wing-backs, into the midfield, and played a more conventional back 4. Don't know whose decision it was to play Whelan as a centre-back. Sounds a strange one.

Often the first 45 minutes of football matches are a time when teams are checking each other out.Moves don't work, are cancelled out,the wheather plays a part (a windy day at the Mem),etc.
For those of us that listen to Joe's before game and after game chats (I reccomend),you'll already know that the lads had had 5 days off pre game, this to recover from the effort and energy put in in previous games.A logical idea imo.So on Saturday they appeared abit slow to find the 'gears' to get going.
We put on a decent enough show in the 2nd half - we were the better team - and made it into today's 3rd round draw. Job done.
Man City away?🙂

Than you. I was fairly sure but not 100% positive. I remember some Coventry fans turning up and some shenanigans afterwards. We had a couple of coach loads from the then royal archer

Dead handy timing as the manager was also elsewhere for those 5 days. It's nice when things turn out like that

I doubt it would ever happen given the our manager has a strong nepotistic streak but i would love to have the likes of Gary Penrice, working on the clubs behalf. We certainly had striker after striker and never seemed short of options. The last i heard, he was running a scouting business and i am pretty sure i read an article about him. I will have a quick search to see EDIT There doesn’t seem to be much up to date information after 2013. Seems he was/is a freelance international scout but the last sentence has him at Everton but as far back as 2013.

I went with the Horseshoe in Downend and went in a pub in Warwick where there was a coachload of Banjo lads in their T-shirts. Also it came through on the radio that City lost at home to Exeter, which caused more celebrations.

I went to the Spurs 9-0 it was embarrassing, we could do with an easy one at home to give a real chance of round 4 say Newcastle or Bristol

It would be nice to get Spurs away what with that spanking new ground of theirs although I expect it will be something boring like The Millers away or Sheff U again !
