Salford City were formed in 1940, they play at Moor Lane, which has a capacity of 5,106 (2,246 seated). Manager Gary Bowyer has managed Blackburn, Blackpool, Bradford and Salford City in 327 games with a 35.5 % win rate. At each home game the team walks out to The Pogues' cover of Dirty Old Town, the 1949 Ewan McColl song inspired by the singer's childhood in Salford. Since their promotion to the Football League, the club do not maintain any strong rivalries. However, a survey conducted in August 2019 suggested that supporters of the club consider near neighbours Oldham Athletic and Bolton Wanderers to be the club's main rivals. The survey also revealed that smaller rivalries with Accrington Stanley, Macclesfield Town and Crewe Alexandra also exist. In February 2014, it was revealed by a local newspaper, the Salford Star, that as well as Gary Neville and Giggs, fellow former Manchester United players Nicky Butt, Phil Neville, and Paul Scholes, known collectively as the Class of '92, were in talks with the club regarding "major investment". From our stadium to their stadium via the M5 & M6 it is 176 miles (just over 3 hours). U.T.G Formed in 1940? I`d have thought that people had more pressing matters on their minds. Not Moor Lane any more. Been the Peninsula Stadium since 2017.
I`ll enjoy the song though.
Salford play their home games at Moor Lane, known as the Peninsula Stadium for sponsorship reasons, located in the Kersal area of Salford. The club has played their games at Moor Lane since 1978. On 19 October 2017, the newly built ground was renamed Peninsula Stadium for sponsorship reasons, and was unveiled by the Class of '92's former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson; the renaming was part a five-year deal with a local entrepreneur Peter Done, who founded the law employment experts Peninsula in Salford. The ground has floodlights in the shape of the club badge, while the terraces are "tight, steep, and covered", and has a leafy backdrop with a nearby church spire visible from within the ground.

You OK Bas? We aren't quite promoted yet. Oops!Haha!š I've been doing that all season TWD,did it on the Tranmere match thread title, but managed to edit it before it 'went to print'. Just can't accept we're 4th tier.Again.Bet Fred offering 11/1 on Rovers promotion when I looked before Tranmere game. š That's something we definitely agree on

The club began in 1940 as Salford Central Mission after a church of the same name where it was founded. They dropped the Mission bit in 1947 to become simply Salford Central, a name to rival Stanley on the iconic name list which, for some unfathomable reason, they changed to Salford Amateurs in 1963 on being promoted to the Manchester Football League. They dropped the Amateurs in 1978 when they moved to their current home, and became Salford City in 1989. In 1973 they won the Lancashire County Football Association Amateur Cup for the second time, a great achievement that was sadly overshadowed by the relegation of the other Salford club to division 2 of the football league. Their anthem is The Pogues cover of Dirty Old Town, a song written by Salford local Ewan MacColl.

secret training centre for a re-run of the Great War Christmas Day match? Or an ( unsuccessful ) attempt to confuse the Luftwaffe, and prevent Old Trafford being bombed?

If anyone still has delusions of grandeur that we're too big to be in 4th division, especially after eating humble pie in the 5th division, this week should put that to bed.
Two away matches versus opponents historically non league.
We have 3 or 4 times bigger attendances, probably just as much corporate hospitality, so resources suggest we should be very competitive.....but of course we all know it's far more complicated than that.
Another tough away match, but with recent performances we should be confident...
Prediction (what do I know?): Scoring draw? 1-1. Evans blinder. More than 500 Gas chanting....
UptheGas!

Don't think anyone has. It doesn't mean we have to accept it though. We became a small "family club" on moving to a non-league ground for ten years. Can't remember any such talk during the Eastville days when the focus was on getting back to Division 2.

Exactly re eastville, we have been on a decline for years...

Match Preview
Rovers boss, Joey Barton has said that the players have grown in confidence off the back of an unbeaten run of three home games in a row.
"I think the lads will grow in confidence from that (unbeaten week at the Mem). We've been really good away from home before this period which allowed us to come into the Mem with a bit more confidence and galvanise the fanbase.
Whilst we didn't take maximum points from Saturday's game against Tranmere Rovers. We've still given a good account of ourselves as well as a good performance, we've managed to progress in the cup sandwiched in-between that.
Now back to two really tough away fixtures. Salford who I think were early season favourites for the division and Forest Green who are riding high at the top of the division. Two really tough fixtures but it's another chance for us to test our teamship and it's a challenge that we will look to meet head on."
Salford's recent form has been mixed. They have lost four times over the past 10 games, but have registered 3 wins out of their last four outings, which included victories in the Papa John's Trophy and the Emirates FA Cup.
Gary Bowyer's side beat Harrogate at home on the weekend just gone - which was their first win in the league since mid-October.
Salford have scored 10 of their 19 goals this season at home - averaging just over 12 shots per home game. In the league, Tuesday's opponents have scored four goals courtesy of set-pieces so far during 2021/22 - Rovers in comparison have nine goals from set-piece situations.
Ben Toner is the official in charge of Tuesday's clash. Toner has officiated 17 games this season, handing out 37 yellow cards and one red card.

I just hope we go for it now and don't try to be clever. Salford showing they're not giving up!

0-1 HT
Gas quite loud, and numerous
KB and Ed Hadwin waxed lyrical about Rovers in the first 15 minutes. I thought the midfield looked pretty, but the back and the front much less good. Rovers were playing with tempo tho
Then a lob over the top put Nicholson into a 1 on 1. Nicely done
After that the prettiness disappeared, but Rovers looked good lobbing long balls. Salford had looked good lobbing long balls, but much less so now
I thought Rovers much more dominant after the goal - before that they flattered to deceive
Salford looking fairly awful - partly due to Rovers restricting them. Both teams playing head tennis and long lobs now
Foul looked a bad one but not a red to me. Ref was standing right next to it though, and both KB and EH went straight to red. And Salford didn't really protest, so one thing bang to rights this week (it might turn into a trend)
KB seems to think we're playing Saltford
Nicholson the only Rovers standout for me 1st half. Lots of others doing their bit tho. Energy levels not sagging
