nice to see so many happy faces on here tonight It's because everybody who went knows that nothing has changed. If that was 11 Vs 11, or even a team in any kind of form with 10 players, we would have lost again. No movement or urgency from midfield. Static front line. Leahy nowhere near the man crossing the ball, when it does come in everybody watches it rather than attacks it, and of course it ends up in our net. Midfield and defence undone time after time by opposition running straight at them. Happy with the win, but Garner is still Garner and unfortunately is still here. Just for 24 hours, please give it a bloody rest. At the end of the day, it’s three much needed points. The performance was immaterial, today the result was everything.

If you want a forum where only your opinion is allowed then go start one, otherwise you're just going to have to come to terms with the fact that other people are entitled to post what they like. If you weren't sat there, all angry and desperate to try to pick a fight, you would see that I've already stated that the win is more than welcome.

Midfield and defence undone time after time by opposition running straight at them. Happy with the win, but Garner is still Garner and unfortunately is still here. Right now the players have more confidence, its wasn't great, but there is def more structure to the team. I also saw some stats that it was our 3rd consecutive match where we had more than 50% poss, prior to that we were in the 30%'s for a while. Same old problem is lack of creativity in the midfield. Upson is our best short passer, but sits on front of back four. I'm hoping for Daly to start with JCH, but how we structure the midfield and flanks arond those two is the issue I think more people would be convinced if it was a scrappy win against some kind of team in form. As it is this was our easiest fixture on paper under Garner: a team in form as wretched as ours, rudderless with no manager, at home. And yet we still needed them to be reduced to 10 men and even then our manager didn’t press the advantage and left JCH up front against 3 CBs for a while. Blackpool were also on top and creating presentable chances even with 10 men. BG just isn’t a manager bless him. The win today means that it’s just going to take a lot longer for the board to figure this out. If we struggled to beat a woefully out of form team at home and needing a sending off to do it then I really worry for the rest of the season. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we win another game if this is the sort of conditions we need to beat a rubbish team. Sorry.

In the context of the dreadful run it was a great win today. Anyone who has followed professional football for any length of time will know that almost every game is tough regardless of form or league position. Well done rovers.

Totally, yet still some teams are tougher than others and we have proved that more than most by being fairly easy to beat under Garner apart from for teams that are short on quality like Tranmere or Bolton. I’ll need to see wins against the likes of Sunderland and Portsmouth to be convinced that BG deserves a crack at next season. He’s pretty much unsackable now though after getting his first win so thankfully for him and all those who think there is a world beater hidden somewhere inside him my personal opinion counts for little.

I honestly Do not think like that regarding opponents both when playing and watching. We lost to bolton comfortably at home and beat ipswich away and so on and so on throughout football. We won today and have been better recently after some very poor performances under garner. He needs mid table form from now until the end of the season to be certain of keeping his job in my view. But we won against a good team in poor form,so thats good right? You get 3 points what ever team you beat.

If we persist with a mind numbing midfield trio of Upson, Ogogo & Clarke any potential of points imo from the next game are gone. I think Upson may be suspended for the next match, so a forced change is likely, individually, I like all three players, but playing as a midfield trio is not effective and lack's creativity. Yesterday, without Kilgore's rush of blood and wonderstike, I doubt we would have unlocked the Blackpool defence as up to that point we were bogged down with midfield trying to find space, a decent pass or a runner. TBH when new striker James Daly is fully fit, I would rest JCH for a game (or 2) and go 2 up top with Abraham in a 4-4-2, I think we are pretty safe League wise, so why not give our young guns a start. I would much prefer the rest of the season played out with experimenting rather than 'mothballing' our signed up young un's with an eye to next season, we need to know before next season if these signings are going to cut the mustard or not.

We had much more movement off the ball up front when the subs came on. First half was very static and void of ideas in that department. Barratt is the creative midfielder we've been crying out for and he looked a bit fitter than in his previous games. Ginnelly slotted straight in and Abraham looks a right handful. If Garner insists on playing 4-3-3 then I think Ginnelly instead of Rodman would be a better call, and why not give Abraham a start instead of JCH? Upson got booked and might be suspended for Sunderland so he could play Rodman in the Upson midfield role, or why not Barratt to add that bit of extra creativity?

I understand the emotional thrust of the post, FJH but I wonder if the elements of truth to Bambi's post is what evokes it? Bambi is spot on imo, that's very much how I saw it.

I would much prefer the rest of the season played out with experimenting rather than 'mothballing' our signed up young un's with an eye to next season, we need to know before next season if these signings are going to cut the mustard or not. A gritty, ugly point earned up at Tranmere in horrendous conditions, followed by a gritty, ugly (and spawney!) win against Blackpool in horrendous conditions means we are as wide as 750-1 to get relegated. We will not go down. A couple of games unbeaten and 4 points will instil a bit of confidence. The defence still worries me. I know we're in an experimentation period but it is pretty obvious that the current back 4 doesn't work. Out of form Blackpool sliced us open 4 times with ease. Personally - I would go back to 5 at the back, 4 - 1. Ginneli and JML on the flanks, 2 out of Ogogo/Clarke/Upson/Barrett in the middle and leave JCH up front alone (probably knackered after 60mins and swap him for Abraham). We have the players to play wide with a bit of pace... that's not been the case for many a year. I'm glass half full and will enjoy the rest of the season as we go through a transitional period. Where we end up is immaterial now. The quality of the football is what counts - and in the last 3-4 games I'm seeing things improve. The whiners can whine and they are entitled to their opinion. I'll just enjoy my trips to the Memorial Tented Village more than them.

I understand the emotional thrust of the post, FJH but I wonder if the elements of truth to Bambi's post is what evokes it? Bambi is spot on imo, that's very much how I saw it. I actually agree with his second sentence and had already said as much. I think he's been angry about his own shortcomings in life since around 2004 so lashes out every now and then, if he finds that it helps him then I'm happy to be part of his road to recovery

I didn't actually offer any help, I just said he could take his anger out on me and I really don't care. Anyway, back to everybody and everything being rubbish, including the scoreboard.

I'm not sure why you chose (again) to make snide personal remarks about someone you obviously don't know, but it's not big or clever.

Because he jumped in shouting his mouth off yesterday, that's why. I'm entitled to respond however I feel appropriate, with or without your permission.

Try to get back on topic..
Anyone notice when we went to 4-4-2, more players became active?
I think BG was too slow to react to that yesterday..
