I was worried today as we looked very lethargi***til we scored. Harold was causing our defence all sorts of problems but luckily they had nobody to feed off him. I was glad when he was subbed. Other results were a real bonus and a play off place almost assured. Can we make the automatic spots? Well other than the Northampton game next week, four of the last five games are against the current bottom four, so it is there for us to take or lose in reality. We have the easiest run in as far as I can see. So I am starting to feel that it is possible. It's funny how we all see things differently, I thought Harold was poor and Lockyer handled him with great superiority. I did not think he ever looked likely to score. I thought dela verde was half the player that we had last season. not having a go, just musing about different perspectives.

He got a fantastic reception from us which I was really pleased about. In fact when he was subbed in the 2nd half I think the applause was greater than when Lawrence went off

Delay Verde main contribution seemed to be stopping Leads. Harold got a warm reception was an awkward bugger but had no one round him to play off.

It was great having Lockyer back in defence, as has been said several times before he plays with a maturity far beyond his years. I'm not sure what McChrystal did though to win man of the match ?! What a difference it made to the pace of the game when Montana came on, until then I thought we were very slow and ponderous, great cameo performance by him. I'd really like to see him start next week in place of Lawrence but don't see that happening.

Dirty, cheating, horrible side who parked the bus and tried to run it over us in the first half. Diving, playing to the ref and their pathetic support. Second half, they got what they deserved and we tore them apart. Could have been 6 nil. F*ck Crawley. Awful club all the way from top to bottom.
We're going up. No doubt about that now.

Matt Harrold did his normal job of being aimed at with long balls and occasionally jostling with defenders. That was all. He never looked like scoring and he never looked like creating a goal either. Gaffney worked twice as hard and contributed twice as much, without playing well. I know who I'd rather have.

Watching Matt Harold brought back exactly why we were rooted to the bottom of the League. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke, but he's as weak as a kitten and offers next to nothing in terms of goal threat. 9 goals from 37 games this season, highest placed opposition he's scored against Cambridge who are 12th. Would you have him back?

Another fantastic result. How often have we turned things around at half time this year? I'd put that down to the tactical and man-management nous of DC. And if you need another cherry on the top (apart from the 82's going down 4-0) look who is the League Two top scorerWell done that man. That suggests he quite good for this level doesn't it ? Quite remarkable for his first season in the Football League, if we don't go up sadly I can't see him being with us for very long, in fact we may find it difficult to hang on to him anyway.

It was nice the only time we all applauded, was Harold's departure.
Even the Tote End managed to sing his name on that occasion!

Can't take it away from him it was a great free kick but we aren't going to have free kicks on the edge of the box every week. The danger is that he is not very fast and quite often can't keep up with play even yesterday he was out of position when they had the ball. I worry that next week against good opposition just like at Portsmouth the game will pass him by. He looked fairly comfortable yesterday but against better opposition I'd like to see someone with the legs to get around pitch to track back and close players down.

He got a good reception when subbed, partly because he did Nothing to hurt us.

Two peripheral things to a great afternoon, well from 4pm on:
Nick Day must be about the best PA guy in the league. His speech leading up to the silence last week was another brilliant one and all through the games he keeps the spirit going with appropriate humour, the interviews at half-time show good knowledge and he deals with the new owners in style without being obsequious. (Yes, I know he's a professional on the radio, but so is Robbie Savage.)
Secondly, the system of choosing MOTM needs looking at. To choose McChrystal, after a fair OK game, before Lawrence after a brilliant free kick and assist from the corner or two-goal Taylor or Lockyer who was way better in defence was rather illogical. How is the MOTM selected and do the selectors choose a player just to meet him after the game?

I also thought the MOTM was a strange choice, Lockyer was far superior in defence to McChrystal, he showed exactly why we badly missed him against Carlisle. Mark didn't even win that many challenges against Harold either so not sure what that was all about as the best you could say was he was ok.

Having attended the FFSC sponsored games and watching from up in the Gods of the Dribuild you get a great perspective of the whole game. It is from there that the quiet encouragement and organising that MM does of the whole defence is far more visible, and possibly the reason for the group choosing the MoM as they did (and as the FFSC did in choosing MM at one of our sponsored games).
It is my veiw that MM and Lockyer really complement one another far better than any other central pairing. MM quietly helps Tom, and in return Mark plays better as he knows he can rely on the younger man completely.
