The waiting is over and the much anticipated rematch is almost upon us.
Both fighters looked superb at the weigh in yesterday and all the talking is over and its down to business.
I still think this is Georges fight to lose and if he boxes smart he will win on points comfortably,if he gets dragged into a war with Froch then his chances diminish as Froch is a beast with a granite chin and tremendous stamina.It`s gonna be a cracking fight and well worth the ppv price of £16.95.

Too close to call imo, think it will be a cracking fight and will definitely go the distance. Rather spend the £17 on cider up the pub though.

Can not wait for it to start, as you say I think it is Groves fight to lose. Hopefully we will get a winner that everybody is happy with this time.

Assuming everyone has had a chance to watch it or at least knows the result now... What did you think? I thought it was a fairly lacklustre fight, Groves was really disappointing compared to his performance in the first fight, however he was getting back into it well until that punch... a stunning knockout if ever there was one. I don't like Froch, never have, but grudging respect for the win last night. Not many fancied him, I certainly didn't and had a token £10 on a Groves points win. One of the guys I watched it with had a few quid on Froch in the 8th, he was fairly happy  |

Groves was getting on top and winning the 8th until the brutal KO.Groves had a full tank of gas and was showing no signs of tiredness.
I think Groves tactics were spot on he was making Froch miss and nullifying him and was going for the points win which as I said before the fight was his best chance of winning.
He got sloppy and was nailed by a crunching right hand as he was trying to let his own left hook go.Full credit to Froch there can be no arguments about the finish and for once he showed some class afterwards during his interview and the post fight press conference.
I am sure George will come back and will win a world title he is just too good not to.
Degale knows he wont get the Froch fight and Froch has fought his mandatory twice so will be allowed to make a defence against whoever he wants.
He will get his Vegas fight and then retire leaving the door open for another all British rivalry in Groves and Degale.

So hard to judge Rocky a real padded record and mafia links,people go on about him being undefeated but lets be honest a prime Joe Louis would have given him a real beating and any version of Ali would have beaten him.

Really thought Groves was going to do it, don't get me wrong, I like Froch and glad he won, but I was a converter after the first fight.
Froch didn't really do anything to worry Groves leading up to the 8th, he only seemed to start throwing once the crowd started booing because not a lot was happening.
But what a punch!
I'm not sure where Froch can go from here really, I know he wants to fight in Vegas, maybe a Kessler III? Those two will go hammer and tong, and the Yanks will love that, Ward is a no, DeGale is a no (not for Froch, but DeGale, he shouldn't be going there yet!), Golovkin, potential fight here, apparently he's willing to step to Super Middleweight or Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
But more importantly, where does Groves go from here? He looked in probably the best shape of his life, and he said yesterday morning that he had no aches or pains, no concussion, and his face was in better shape all compared to the first fight, I haven't had a chance to hear the Sauerland post fight interview yet, but have they mentioned any set backs?
I also didn't know that going into that fight, DeGale was ranked 4 (his opponent 3) and Groves 6 with the IBF!

Froch threw 349 landed 96 with a 28% success rate we all know the 96th punch counted big time. Groves threw 314 landed 126 with a 40% success rate. The stats say that Georges gameplan was spot on and up to the KO he was leading 5-2 on the American commentators cards and one of the judges official scorecard.I had it a bit closer than that but thought George was coming on strong. The KO was brutal but not as bad as Herol Grahams against Julian Jackson.At the time Herol was winning this fight with ease. |
