Andy Murray could play doubles at Wimbledon but has effectively ruled out competing in the singles this year. The former world number one had a hip resurfacing operation in January and has since said he is "pain-free". No player has competed in singles after that operation but American doubles player Bob Bryan has returned. "It's not enough time," Murray, 32, told the Times. "I'd say there's very little chance I'd play singles during the grass [season]. "Potentially doubles, but I'm not trying to get ready for singles. I've only just started moving now," added the Scot. Before the surgery, he had said he was planning to retire after Wimbledon, but he now seems more confident of a return to competitive tennis. "I know from seeing what Bob Bryan has done that for doubles it will be absolutely fine. I'll need to see from there how it would work singles-wise," the twice Wimbledon champion added. "If I continue to feel good then I will obviously give it a shot in singles and see what happens. In doubles I'm pretty certain I'll be able to play, just based on having an example to look at. "The thing I said before was that, if I wasn't feeling good, there was more chance that I would play and then stop after Wimbledon. Whereas if it's feeling good, it makes a bit more sense to give it time to make sure that it's as good as possible before I try to play singles on it." If Murray competes at Wimbledon in the doubles it is unlikely to be alongside brother Jamie, a six-time Grand Slam doubles champion. Jamie said at the weekend: "For me, these are the peak years in my career and if I go to play Wimbledon with someone who hasn't hit a tennis ball in eight months, I'm kind of giving up one of those years, so that's a big decision for me to take. "Circumstances might dictate otherwise, but I want to give myself the best chance of winning the tournament. Normally I would have a good chance with Andy, but probably right now he's not in his peak moment." If the Murray brothers do play together in London.I will have a few pence on them to win the Tournament. I agree too, I think we all know his singles days are long past, but doubles with his champion brother is a different task, one which could work.

Would like to say well done to the greatest clay court player of all time Rafael Nadal, 12 French titles now, not bad for (using an old quote I remember from way way back) "A BUSTED FLUSH", only 2 behind Roger now.

Emma Raducanu reaches US Open final in New York, British teenager Emma Raducanu reached the US Open final as her meteoric rise continued with a stunning straight-set win over Greek 17th seed Maria Sakkari in New York.
Raducanu, 18, extended her dream run with a 6-1 6-4 victory in which her dominance again almost defied belief.
She is the first qualifier to reach a Grand Slam final and will play another teenager Leylah Fernandez on Saturday.
Raducanu is the first British woman in a major singles final in 44 years.
Watched on by Virginia Wade - the last woman to achieve that feat at Wimbledon in 1977 - Raducanu produced another fearless and ruthless victory that stunned those watching on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
After confidently swatting away a volley on her first match point, Raducanu immediately dropped her racquet on the court and covered her mouth with both hands.
Quickly she broke out into a beaming smile before lapping up the acclaim of a rapturous crowd on the world's biggest tennis court.
"The time in New York has gone so quickly, I've been taking care of each day and three weeks later I'm in the final. I actually can't believe it," Raducanu said.
After coming through three qualifying matches to reach the main draw, she has not dropped a set in any of her nine matches at Flushing Meadows.
It is only Raducanu's second Grand Slam tournament and the fourth tour-level event of her career.
Additionally, Raducanu is:
The youngest British Grand Slam finalist in 62 years, since Christine Truman reached the French Open final aged 18 in 1959
The first British woman to reach a US Open final in 53 years, following Wade in 1968
Only the fourth British woman to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open era
Before her run to the Wimbledon last 16 earlier this summer, Raducanu was ranked 336th in the world.
This win puts her on the verge of the top 30 after already being assured of becoming the British women's number one by reaching the last four at Flushing Meadows.
Most pertinently, it gives the London teenager - who also passed her A Levels this summer - the opportunity to win one of tennis' most prestigious titles when she faces Canadian 19-year-old world number 73 Fernandez at 21:00 BST on Saturday.
Given the one-sided nature of the victory against Sakkari - and those before it - Raducanu will not be fazed by the occasion.

Great News:
British teenager Emma Raducanu's history-making US Open final against Canada's Leylah Fernandez will be available to watch live on network television after Amazon Prime agreed a deal with Channel 4.
Amazon's Prime Video streaming service has had exclusive UK broadcast rights for the final Grand Slam of the year.
But a deal has been struck with Channel 4, with Amazon pledging to reinvest that money - believed to be a seven-figure sum, according to the Press Association - into British women's tennis to help fund the next generation of players.
Channel 4's chief content officer Ian Katz added: "We're glad to have worked with Prime Video and pulled out all the stops to get it on air."

Emma Raducanu ended Britain's 44-year wait for a women's Grand Slam singles champion as she beat Leylah Fernandez to win the US Open in the most thrilling style.
The 18-year-old ended her scarcely believable run in New York with a 6-4 6-3 win over her 19-year-old Canadian opponent in a high-quality final.
Raducanu threw herself to the floor in disbelief as she fired down an ace to conclude what has been the most remarkable journey.
Raducanu served for the match at 5-3 but cut her leg as she went break point down, leading to a medical time-out and a clearly irritated Fernandez expressing her frustration to the match official.
However, Raducanu shrugged off the delay, saving a further break point before closing out her third championship point.
The two shared a warm hug before Raducanu headed up the stairs at Arthur Ashe Stadium to celebrate with her support box.
Raducanu was cheered on by an emotional Virginia Wade, who was the last British woman to win a major trophy at Wimbledon in 1977.
"It means so much to have Virginia Wade here and also Tim Henman," Raducanu said in her on-court speech.
"They are British icons and for me to follow in their footsteps gave me the belief I could do it."
With the victory, Raducanu becomes:
The first British female winner at Flushing Meadows since Virginia Wade in 1968 The first qualifier in the Open era to win a Slam The youngest women's Slam champion since Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004 The youngest Briton to win a Grand Slam title The first woman to win the US Open without dropping a set since Serena Williams in 2014 She will take home Ā£1.8m in prize money, rise to 23 in the world rankings and will become the British number one on Monday.
Raducanu will also know that she has starred in one of the biggest moments in British sporting history - and captured the imagination of the fans at home and in New York.

Came totally out of the blue and I think that's what it was going to take so that any media circus wouldn't suppress the player.
Love C4 for showing it live.
The country stood still for 2 hours.
We love sport

Oddschecker give you the full history (click on Emma and select history / all). 4-1 before the semi-finals. 500-1 early August. Best odds now 1-10. Great to see the nation come together behind a sporting event / personality - I would argue much more than the Euros.

Latest on the Novak Djokovic Controversy in Australia.
World number one men's tennis player Novak Djokovic should be deported from Australia if he has not told the truth about his exemption from vaccination rules, the deputy prime minister says.
Barnaby Joyce told the BBC that rich people "can't wander around the world thinking... they are above the laws".
Djokovic, who had travelled to play in the Australian Open, is in immigration detention after his entry was denied.
A court will decide on whether he should be deported on Monday.
The 34-year-old Serbian player, who has said he is opposed to vaccination, had been granted a medical exemption to play in the tournament in Melbourne for unspecified reasons, a decision that infuriated many Australians.
The exemption was given by two independent medical panels organised by Tennis Australia, the body that runs the event, and Victoria state, tournament organisers said.
But on Wednesday, Australian Border Force (ABF) officials said Djokovic had "failed to provide appropriate evidence" for entry after arriving from Dubai. He is being held at a hotel used for immigration detention in a Melbourne suburb.
"If he hasn't filled out the forms appropriately then he's taking the sovereign capacity of another nation for a joke," Mr Joyce told the BBC's Newshour programme. "100% someone's made a mistake and if he hasn't told the truth then the person who's made the mistake is Mr Djokovic."
He added: "You can't just wander around the world thinking that because you're really rich you're really above the laws of other nations."
Djokovic's team challenged ABF's decision, and a hearing at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia has been scheduled for Monday. It is not yet clear whether Djokovic will remain in the same hotel until then.

Tennis star Novak Djokovic had a vaccine exemption to enter Australia after a Covid infection on 16 December, his lawyers say in court documents.
Djokovic was denied entry to Australia after landing in Melbourne this week to play in the Australian Open.
The world's top ranked tennis player is currently in an immigration detention centre ahead of a court case on Monday.
His case has caused a huge outcry in Australia and made headlines around the world.
Djokovic, 34, who has said he is opposed to vaccination, had been granted a medical exemption to play in the tournament in a decision that infuriated many ordinary Australians.
But the Serbian was dramatically denied entry on landing.
On Wednesday, Australian Border Force (ABF) officials said the player had "failed to provide appropriate evidence" at Melbourne Airport because a prior infection was not a valid reason to enter without a vaccination.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison later confirmed that this was the case under federal rules - despite an exemption provided by the Victorian state government.

And to rub salt in the Serbs wounds. Rafael Nadal has won his favourite tournament. Also, someone once said many years agthatĀ Rafael Nadal was a 'Busted Flush', how sweet is this record breaking win today. Yep, it was the Man UTD glory hunter ZFC, aka SAABGAS,aka JAGGAS. The one that changed his allegiance from Swiss big cheese to Gluten free Serb. Knee knack, back knack, busted flush were all phrases used by the banned one. I would love to hear his opinions now. Rafa will be a big favourite to win at Roland Garros . It's frightening to think how many Slams Rafa would have won, had he not missed so many of them.

So, do you think that by going Gluten Free is cheating or a natural enhancement which has worked for him ? The shambles that ensued with him not being vaccinated was interesting, an educated man would have got jabbed and won the slam, it meant so much to him. Rafa was nursing a bout of blisters on his hand, being 2 sets down as well, it was all over, the Serbian would not have let that margin slip and won for sure. Now that the Busted Flush has taken the lead it will be hard now for Gluten to win 2 to go in front at his age of 35 in May (RN is 36 in June). The great Roger federer won his last slam at the Australian Open in 2018 when he was 36, it will be tough for both the Spaniard & the Serbian.

Before 2011 he was a habitual, withdrawer from matches with injuries. Then all of a sudden he turned from a wimp into a Superman. That year he won almost every tournament that he entered. Surprising turnaround in fitness levels. He became the fittest, strongest and most flexible individual on the tour. He is a nasty piece of work as well. Smashing racquets and hitting balls in anger is not the way to conduct yourself on a tennis court. His pathetic attempt to win fans over at Flushing Meadow last year was embarrassing. He will never be liked.
