We have played Sheffield Wednesday only 14 times..W2, D5, L7..Biggest win 4-2, Loss 6-2 and there was a 3-3 draw.
Sheffield Wednesday were founded in 1867, are known as The Owls and play at Hillsborough Stadium which holds 39,732.
Manager Darren Moore is 48 & played his 670 games for Torquay, Doncaster, Bradford, Portsmouth, WBA, Derby, Barnsley, Burton & Jamaica. Darren has managed WBA, Doncaster Rovers and now Sheffield Wednesday in a total of 248 games with an overall 47.6% win rate.
Although no contemporary evidence has been found to support the claim, it is commonly believed that "The Wednesday Cricket Club" was formed in 1820. Nevertheless, an 1842 article in Bell's Life magazine states the club was founded as far back as 1816. The club was so named because it was on Wednesdays that the founding members had a half-day off work. They were initially based at the New Ground in Darnall, and often went by the name of Darnall Wednesday, but also played at Hyde Park. In 1855 they were one of six clubs that helped build Bramall Lane, and held a wicket there for many years. On the evening of Wednesday 4th September 1867, a meeting was held at the Adelphi Hotel to establish whether there was interest among the club's members to form a football club to keep the team together and fit during the winter months. The proposal proved very popular, with over 60 members signing up for the new team on the first night.
The move to professionalism took the club from Bramall Lane, to the new Olive Grove. Owing to an expansion of the local railway lines, the club was told that they would have to find a new ground for the 1899–1900 season. After a difficult search the club finally bought some land in the village of Owlerton, which at the time was several miles outside the Sheffield city boundaries. Construction of a new stadium (now known as Hillsborough Stadium) was completed within months and the club was secured for the next century.
In their early years, the club was nicknamed The Blades, a term used for any sporting team from the city of Sheffield, famous the world over for its cutlery and knives. That nickname has been retained by Wednesday's crosstown rivals, Sheffield United.
Although it is widely assumed that the club's nickname changed to The Owls in 1899 after the club's move to Owlerton. It was not until 1912, when Wednesday player George Robertson presented the club with an owl mascot, that the name took hold. A monkey mascot introduced some years earlier had not brought much luck.
Sheffield Wednesday's main rivals are city neighbours Sheffield United. Matches between these two clubs are nicknamed Steel City derbies. A survey conducted in 2019 revealed that, as well as Sheffield United, Wednesday fans consider fellow-Yorkshire sides Leeds United, Barnsley, Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers as rivals.
United were formed in 1889 by the committee at Bramall Lane, who had lost their biggest source of income – Wednesday – two years earlier over a dispute concerning pitch rent. As well as playing at Wednesday's former ground, United also took Wednesday's former nickname, the Blades, as their own. The first derby game took place on 15th December 1890, with Wednesday winning 2–1 at Olive Grove.
Former legendary managers were Arthur Dickinson (919 games), Robert Brown (600), Eric Taylor (539), Jack Charlton (269), Howard Wilkinson (255) & Trevor Francis (214).
Sheffield Wednesday's biggest win 12-0, defeat 10-0, The appearance & goalscoring record is held by Andrew Wilson (560 & 217) 1900-1920.
Sheffield Wednesday are currently in 3rd place, the mighty BRFC are in 15th and IMO are now safe and will play L1 football next season.

I applied for a job as a part-time football coach in Sheffield once.
They said, "How flexible are you?" ... I said, "I can't manage Wednesday."

What time is it in NZ Jeff? This some breakfast viewing? Currently 7:30am and 0-2 here too. :-( Bumpy pitch? Appalling officials? Unfit officials? Key players pulling out of 50 / 50 balls? Time to crank up the Barton random excuse machine.

A good effort from the Gas tonight, 66% of the play, 4 shots on target to 3 and a good support of 8,724.
SW went top, then Ipswich went top, then a 96th minute goal took Plymouth back to the top..
And SU beat BC 1-0 to keep hold of that automatic 2nd place in the Championship.

I think we'd played well and we're getting better.
Wednesdays goals were avoidable, poor defending and I suspect Quansah played apart in both.
We played some good passing football and at a decent tempo.
Josh and Aaron look like their form is improving again.
We're on the right road.
UTG!

So question is why bring him back in when the defence has been solid in the games when he wasn't available? From what Ive heard 4 at the back with Gibson and Connolly in the middle appeared to be working well. The latter seemed to be finding form again.

For me Quansah is a classy player, but he perhaps has lapses in concentration occasionally and also, his judgement of high balls coming at the defence appears hesitant. He is capable of brilliant recovery tackles but he could be dealing with the original high ball better. He's young and only ever played EFL football at Rovers. He'll improve,he has a certain amount of class. I would'nt get alarmist about his selection.

BRFC 1 Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 66% - 34% - Shots 7-9 - On Target 4-3 - Corners 6-4 - Referee: Josh Smith - Attendance: 9,003
Rovers fell to a first home defeat to top six opposition this season, despite a valiant second-half performance. Aaron Collins' 46th minute strike set up a thrilling encounter after Wednesday had scored twice in the first half through Bannan and Famewo.
Rovers made three changes from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Derby County for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday. In came Loft, Coburn and Quansah, for Sinclair, Finley and Anderson, who all dropped to the bench.
Wednesday struck the bar early on from a Smith header, but the striker was flagged offside, before Lewis Gibson, newly-installed as captain, almost gifted the Owls the lead with a thirteenth-minute backpass that Smith almost intercepted.
Smith saw yellow on 15 for a late tackle on Gibson.
Rovers' first shot on target came in the 21st minute as Loft volleyed goalwards from a Hoole cross, but straight at Dawson.
Wednesday went ahead after 29 minutes as Barry Bannan picked up a loose Quansah pass and rifled home from thirty-yards beyond Belshaw into the bottom left corner of the net.
The Owls doubled their advantage after 41 minutes, when a loose ball from a corner was struck home from close range by Famewo.
Rovers won a corner as the half drew to a close, but the visitors cleared and the Gas went into the interval trailing by two goals to nil.
Rovers made three changes for the second half, with Evans, Finley and Sinclair replacing Connolly, Ward and Loft.
The impact was immediate as Collins sprinted through and finished under Dawson to halve the dedficit in the 46th minute.
Gibson made a crucial interception as Wednesday broke away, before play was stopped for an injury to Famewo. The goalscorer couldn't continue and was substituted, whilst Vaulks was booked for delaying the restart.
Sinclair nearly pounced on a clearance after 58 after a good ball from Evans had put Coburn in behind.
Coburn's drive from distance was deflected narrowly wide for a Rovers corner, but a foul on Flint relieved the pressure on the Owls.
Sinclair gave the ball away on 62 and Gregory played in Smith, but he couldn't keep his shot down.
Rovers continued to dominate possession but couldn't find a way through, so Marquis was introduced in place of Gordon to try and find the equaliser.
He so nearly scored with his first touch, but Hoole's cross was just glanced away from his head for a corner.
Marquis thought he'd equalised with ten minutes remaining as he tapped in Finley's shot, but the offside flag thwarted the celebrations.
Evans then curled narrowly wide from the edge of the box as Wednesday half-cleared a cross in the 82nd minute.
Joey Barton picked up a booking for questioning a foul given against Collins on the touchline, before Anderson replaced Bogarde. Wednesday defender Palmer was also booked for time-wasting.
Collins shot on target, but a deflection brought an injury-time corner for Rovers, but the visitors clung on.
Next up for Rovers is a trip to Port Vale on Saturday 22nd April for a Sky Bet League One game (kick-off 3pm).
ROVERS: Belshaw, Connolly (Evans 46), Gordon, Quansah, Gibson (c), Hoole, Ward (Finley 46), Bogarde, Loft (Sinclair 46), Collins, Coburn.
Subs: Ward, Finley, Sinclair, Marquis, Anderson, Evans, Gibbons.
WEDNESDAY: Dawson, Palmer, Vaulks, Iorfa, Adeniran, Gregory, Bannan (c), Famewo, Johnson, Smith, Flint.
Subs: Stockdale, Brown, Paterson, Dele-Bashiru, Bakinson, Shipston, Durrant.

Joey Barton fumes at offside call as Bristol Rovers are edged out by Sheffield Wednesday..by Sam FrostJoey Barton believes Bristol Rovers' 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at the Mem on Tuesday hinged on an incorrect offside call against Gas striker John Marquis. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/5C6E/production/_129326632_shutterstock_editorial_13865025fk.jpgThe Owls went two in front in the first half, with Barry Bannan and Akin Famewo profiting from errors at the back, but Barton's side hit back immediately after half time through Aaron Collins. Then with 10 minutes to play, Sam Finley's shot was turned home by substitute Marquis in the area, only for the assistant's flag to be raised. Barton and his staff have the benefit of almost immediate video replays via a screen in the dugout and he believes the evidence shows his striker was clearly onside. "I don’t think there was much in the game," Barton said. "You are reliant on the officials to get major decisions right and, unfortunately, tonight the linesman has had a guess, as they do at the level. "I was worried when I saw that referee, every time I get him he does something barmy, that ref. I’m not really putting that on his toes, the linesman has only got one job to do and it’s disappointing when they guess. "Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn’t. If we score that there, there is only one team looking likely to go and win the game. "Credit to our lads. We’ve technically got nothing to play for in our season, but I think everyone who was at the game tonight can see the lads had a right go in the second half and with a bit better officiating, we would have drawn the game if not gone on and pushed on to try and win it." The Rovers manager later received a yellow card from referee Josh Smith for showing his frustration at a decision in the closing stages, in which the third-placed Owls clung on and kept their automatic promotion hopes alive. "We get the benefit of having a replay instantly," Barton continued. "If we have VAR, it’s a goal. He’s a good yard or two onside. "The linesman has got one job to do, looking across the line, and I know it’s tough for them without the benefit of the replay. "You speak to them at the end, just to get them to accept they have made a mistake, but they don’t. They are a law unto themselves at this level and it cost us. "Thankfully, we’re not chasing automatic promotion or a play-off spot because the mistake could have been felt a lot more. "We’re disappointed, but we can’t give ourselves mountains to climb all the time." The Gas remain 15th in League One, with their place in the division almost mathematically assured, save for an inconceivable goal-difference swing, after defeats for Cambridge United and Accrington Stanley on Tuesday. Barton admits his side were culpable for the defeat, with both Wednesday goals stemming from mistakes at the back. "I think you have to give Barry Bannan a helluva lot of credit," he added. "To beat James Belshaw, it must’ve been a helluva strike. I wasn’t that side and I didn’t expect to see it in the net, but you know Barry’s got that quality. It’s difficult when someone hits the ball that well. "The second goal was preventable. I felt we should have dealt with long throw that came in the box just before and we didn’t and there was a bit of confusion in there. We should have dealt with that as a team better. "We’re 2-0 down so we make a few changes at half time and we score early and you think the Gasheads are with us and we’re getting back in it. "We get the equaliser, but the officials, in the context of the game, make a big error and that cost us mounting a comeback and possibly winning the game."
