GC wasn’t sacked in any way, shape or form. He resigned to take over at Mansfield. OK. Fair enough. The mind plays tricks over time. It was a strange one I recall now. I don't think we'll ever find out exactly what went on there. I'd still say the point remains that the club owner has made hasty decisions over his time. We know what happened. GC wasn't liked at the club and had an opportunity to move to an upwardly mobile Mansfield closer to home. His post-Ipswich outburst was a desperate attempt to cover his tracks, proving why the fanbase were quite right to regard him with caution and even hostility. People who had an axe to grind with Wael then leaped on Coughlan's performance and claimed that he would otherwise have been committed to the club. Complete BS - once Coughlan had learned of Mansfield's interest, he was intent on leaving. No mystery about it. Coughlan behaved pretty despicably. I would very much like to be a fly on the wall if he ever has to explain the meaning of 'contractual obligation' to one of his employees. 'Hasty' is a very kind way of describing Wael's decision-making. Hamer, Starnes, Widdrington and (dare I say it) Barton are damning indictments of his judgement.

My advice on this match-day thread.
Concentrate on football, stay positive and ignore the noise.
BTW it's all been done to death. How many more threads are going to be hijacked by those brandishing the moral compass, especially by those who have actually lost interest in going to the football?
Pravda...moral standards..etc. 🤔on a thread which features a good win against play-off contenders on a glorious sunny afternoon, with a capacity crowd.

The estranged Gasheads attitude is pathetic. An endless, repetitive useless whine. Queue Sam Barbers Adagio for Strings,it's really too good for them, but the violins may suit their loss.

So far he has achieved nothing, other than a chance of promotion, was not that his mantra after getting this club relegated," I will get this club promotion" if he does, then odds on he will be off ,with something on his CV ,and we move on.... I think it was more along the lines of 'we will walk this division'. So by his own standards, he has already failed. We most certainly haven't walked this division although, given some of the pravda-esque posts that we have recently had to endure, uninformed observers could easily be forgiven for concluding otherwise. Almost all other clubs wouldn't have employed Barton with two outstanding court cases and the fall-out from his departure from Fleetwood, when he left with less than glowing references from his former employer. Barton has too much baggage and history for most clubs to even consider him. Also remember that other clubs have standards to maintain. Fleetwood’s loss our gain and being good friends with a number of Fleetwood supporters they would have Joey back in a heartbeat. Anyway, don’t let facts get in the way of a good Jackanory.

I think that's it for the thread. We don't run Match Day Threads concurrently. So let's focus on Bristol Rovers trip to Darrell Clarke's Port Vale.
