how? can a team be so sh*te one day then generally hold their own and more in the next.... confused.com!!! good point overall, but possibly come away feeling they could have grabbed the 3. Each game is a different game. One is not a continuation of the previous. Oh and the ball bounces in mysterious ways. Edit.Eg,Stanley at home, drew 0 0 v Cobblers today. and as mentioned above,NOT a shot on target today!!!

I am going to say something provocative. Baldwin is growing on me. He’s okaying defensively, but has an offensive side to his game. Harries was supposed to be the ball playing defender not Baldwin? Why play a deep lying playmaker if a centre back can give you that? Some of his passing is Kaiseresque which almost certainly isn’t’ a word outside a football forum. I would like to see him step out of defence with ball more and try some surging runs. Not provocative with me. I think he’s a lot better than people give him credit for. Yes he does make some dodgy passes but he also makes a lot of good ones and as a defender he seems to enjoy being on the ball. Harries has got a wand of a left foot but he’s got to learn the art of defending.

I see Kieffer More scored for Cardiff at City today.
We could have signed him for £80k when DC was manager. No worries we would have sold him by now though.

I thought we were the better side. Probably not quite deserving of all three points though. Not enough clear cut chances and just a couple of hopeful penalty shouts. I'd definitely have taken 0-0 before kick-off. Some good performances. Great to see Daly back and Hanlan looking more like his old self. Thought the ref had a good game. Thought the home commentary was pretty decent and unbiased, and no mention of Lee-Hi or Kilgower. £10 well spent. UTG.

After all this time, a certain ex manager with a love of hair gel, gets his wish. Expectations have been lowered, significantly

Pity they don't give 2 points for an away draw.....

Hope they turn up and have a go today, cannot see us scoring as Hanlan will be marked out of the game, we need him to start facing the opponents goal and knocking balls through for him to run onto, he has got pace!, usually he has his back to goal and waits for a pass, he then needs to trap & turn, beat his man and try to find space for a shot, not easy!. Hope Daly gets some game time to help bring him up to speed, hoping for a 0-0 and a clean sheet, looking no further than that!.Well done, you got the score dead right and Daly got 73 mins of game time -

Swindle and Wigan are must wins like Rochdale so we shall see. Need that the flying Fin might be back in the next month is welcome news. Tisdale said post match this where we are he clearly has told his squad their career at Rovers is on the line and he realises his own future hangs in the balance come May. February and March are big months for them all and us fans of course. Decisions on season ticket renewals will be considered in March and I feel the enforced absence will not encourage all to renew.

Hey a much improved performance, an improved result from Tuesday and apologies accepted but don't let it happen again.
I thought a draw was a fair result as it could have gone either way, and although Grayson might be damp squib, in context both managers can take something from the result.
Well done our defence, and more importantly keeps for keeping a clean slate. That's the most important thing when you've been tonked the match before.....well done attack for creating chances, albeit mostly half chances.
My m o m Grant. Worked hard and made things simple but kept the ball rolling.
Really liked notable contribution from Williams, McCormick as sub, Nicholson and Day.....whom produced a save as good as a goal to preserve a point.
Ehmer done ok. Nice to see Daly back again. Disagreed with Liddel start, McCormick looked more influential.
This is far from perfect, we still let too many chances in but at least we defended with more passion and vigour than previous outings. We appeared to defend higher.... I'm still nervous that our keeper can't command his area because he's rooted, but we carved out a draw and competed against an average set 3rd division team.
In summary.... If this was a first match, building is the key and there is some hope. We were lucky on occasions by poor finishing, but Day made one great save, and the defence as a unit stopped the messing around and put ball out into touch....in essence, we cut down on unforced errors and couldn't quite capitalise on their errors. We pestered their defence with direct through balls and it appears to reap rewards on chances but if you can't hit the target from inside 6 yard area, then no good...
Better, and we'll happily take a point, but we definitely can do better.

He’ll occasionally bring the ball out and try and thread a pass through to the forwards which goes wrong but overall I think he’s ok. Has certainly been better than Harries and Ehmer and usually Kilgour so far. And more to the point we look better with him in the side. UTG! edit: Sorry outwood, posted before I saw that you’d said almost exactly the same.

I had no idea JBFs form was so bad going into this game and I think they will feel they are in a similar position to us last season, probably have enough points to stay up, because without JB and Evans they looked awful, no composure on the ball and lucky to get a point yesterday.
Pleased for Day to get his deserved clean sheet after being so heavily exposed on Tuesday. Made a great save 2nd half.
Williams best game for us so far, Leahy is one of my players of the season, the defence as a group looked better, especially on set pieces.
Someone who is employed by the club should be analysing how many set pieces we concede, how many we then defend 100& satisfactorily and give this a % at the end of the game, then compare this to the Stanley game. Different opposition granted, but performance stats, while not the be all and end all, tell you a story and make people think.
We defended set pieces 90% perfectly yesterday and deserved the clean sheet as a result.
Grant and Liddle played well, Nicholson looked most dangerous first half, Hanlan was poor but improved 2nd half, it wasn't an Oztumer game and I struggle to see how all 4 front men can fit in.
Ayunga should have come on sooner alongside Hanlan. Rodman isn't at his usual standard as yet. We had 3 decent chances 2nd half and should have scored, but I would have been happy with any improvement in effort from Tuesday and therefore I am satisfied.
Daly makes such a difference with his bravery upfront, never gives up. Hanlan has no competition and therefore doesn't need to work as hard. I feel he still can do better.
McCormick made a decent contribution again.
Well done Gas but it feels a little like 2 pts dropped and an opportunity missed, but really can't complain after Stanley.
Bad Refereeing decisions, 2 good penalty shouts for us first half, especially the 2nd one.

Today is all about mentality. I've looked back at our results in games following previous thrashings - some of which led to managers leaving. 2010 / 11 - the 6 - 2 defeat at Sheff Wed led to Trollope leaving after 5 years. First game afterwards: 0 - 2 at MK Dons. Things actually got worse, with 12 defeats in the next 17 games, including a 6 - 1 drubbing at Walsall. This was the year of Dave Penney, Stuart Campbell - and ultimately - relegation to League Two. 2011 / 12 - a 2 - 0 loss at Barnet proved to be the last game for Paul Buckle. This came hot on the heels of two heavy home defeats: 2 - 3 to Plymouth and 2 - 5 to Crewe. Buckle had fallen out badly with both players and fans. First game after he left: a 2 - 1 win at Hereford under caretaker boss Shaun North. Mark McGhee took over soon afterwards and our form turned for the better, with only 2 defeats in 10. 2012 / 13 - the wheels were coming off under McGhee. The Gas were 4 - 1 down before HT at York (sounds familiar?!) and the board pulled the trigger. John Ward took over and we secured a 2 - 2 draw at Adlershot. Form picked up noticeably, with 6 wins in the next 9. 2018 / 19 - a 0 - 4 home defeat to Doncaster ended Darrell's reign. GC took over just before Christmas with us in the relegation zone. Although his first game was a 2 - 1 loss at Sunderland, we showed a lot of spirit. Results again improved, with only 2 defeats in the next 16. We stayed up. Conclusions: In the game immediately after a game where we've been thrashed and / or the manager has lost their job, we've NEVER kept a clean sheet. However, we did win one (after Buckle left). The question on my mind is: what type of team are we this season? Are we the 2010 / 11 squad - where the 6 - 1 drubbing at Sheff Wed only led to more humiliating scores and relegation; or the 2018/19 team who have enough in us mentally to turn this around? In all those previous cases, the heavy defeats did lead to managers losing their jobs. We can only guess what results would have been like if they'd stayed in post. At the moment, this season's situation is different: Tisdale is still in charge. The others had been in post longer (although Buckle had only been boss for six months). Predictions for today at Fleetwood: If we're a 2010 / 11 team... it's certainly a 0 - 2 or 0 - 3 defeat and I think Tisdale will go. The Fleetwood team will be desperate to impress their new boss. Their long overdue a win and don't concede many goals. If we're a DC / GC team... we can possibly hope for a 1 - 1 battling draw. Fleetwood should also be low on confidence after a poor run themselves. I expect Tisdale to play 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 with Daly replacing Hanlon up front. If Upson is fit (doubtful?), I expect him to return. It'll be interesting to see whether Oztumer and Westbrooke play too. It's clear they have plenty of talent, but I sense PT is very disappointed with them. UTG Phil another superb well written post I don't know you as far as I know but I want to award you a copy of the new Alfie Biggs book which will be published in the summertime hopefully after lockdown.Would you consider joining our Rovers History group because your attention to detail in everything you write is valuable to our group. Look forward to hearing from you. UTG That's very kind of you Harry, I'd love to.

"Expecting a reaction from the team and major team changes Hare, Hargreaves, Walker, Liddle, Kioki, Phillips et al who must be given their chance to change Rovers fortunes". Well... I make that a 1 in 6 success rate, and that's not including et al.

Epp it begs question does PT know much about Walker Hargreaves and particularly our new french striker Et all ? Good question Harry. Maybe PT hasn't been here long enough to judge the youngsters as good enough, and he's playing it safe with the 'established squad'. PT doesn't strike me as a risk taker. I know you think differently - but I think he's right to keep the youngsters out of the firing line at the moment. Another Accrington type display could destroy a young players confidence. As for Et Al - I thought he was Egyptian. Another one for the future.

Somehow we are going to have to eek out another 26 points from the remaining games of this season and with just the solitary attempt on target in yesterday’s encounter it might prove to be a tough ask.
