Stevenage not very good, we were awful, play ground defending by Sinclair caused the first goal, and Nichols watching it roll in the net, at least make an effort, and the second goal, DC says it was a great strike, I say it was a good strike which again Nichols should have tried to stop; and up front, Easter IMO not good enough, just had to slot the ball past their keeper for the second equaliser and misses the 22 foot wide goal mouth, not good enough. When a players in position the rest are motion less, the pace of the play and build up is so slow, its no wonder the team does not create enough goal scoring opportunities. im not a fan of nicholls but i dont think any keeper would have saved the 2nd goal,,be interesting to see the highlights when/if posted

Another poor home performance. A healthy near 6000 crowd were dished up the same drivel that had let down the Mem in previous games. I have to say apart from a penalty save versus part timers and one tonight from distance which he almost spilled, can anyone remember a save this clown has made? Everything just goes straight through him like he's not there. This keeper is a joke. We play two wingers, so a great idea is to hoof the ball bypassing them to the smallest bloke on the pitch.....Matty Taylor take a bow son, you were brilliant. When we have the ball, no movement. No one wants it. Except in defence when we're f ing around with it.. Lines 50% delivery hits the first man. For me, not a captain. Hanna Montana had Jake Gosling disease from Saturday. Why doesn't DC play 3-5-2 in second half with Leads overlapping? We looked awesome until Leads injury. Very poor overall display. Stevenage offered our mate Matt but little else. Well organised in defence and we had no questions to ask apart from a good save by keeps when Easter was put through....and we were rewarded with a goal kick. I'm sorry but near 6000 were let down tonight and it's only a matter of tome before loyalty dwindles too. Great turn out Gas, but there's only so long folk will put up with watching a re run of poor football with little to show for it, apologies from management and the same again because cr@p player are played again.. Rant over. Well said and totally agree. But are things any different as for the last 14 years we have never come to terms with the 4th division. Tippy tappy punchless football played by small gentle players. Clarke was quoted as saying we need to win ugly, well he got the ugly bit right! This really isnt good enough,we deserve better.

From my perspective we seem to be trying to walk the ball into the net. Whilst I thinks it's commendable to try to play on the ground football, I just don't think it's the best way, in this league. Having said that, I can't continue to blame the managers as it just can't be right that every manager we have had, since coming back to Bristol, have been the reason for our constant underachieving, can it ?

When you look at the length of his contract, my heart sinks. I'm not sure how long he has here, I thought we had to give him a 3 year deal to get him to agree to come, but just looked at BBC sports website and they reported it as an 18 month deal? If you believe what was reported in the media at the time of Easter's signing, it was (as you say) an 18-month contract. In broad terms that was for the remainder of last season, and the whole of this one

All those booing and chanting "cheat" at that last minute injury of Stevenage's defender Schumacher won't be able to do so again for nine months or so as he has torn his ACL.

All those booing and chanting "cheat" at that last minute injury of Stevenage's defender Schumacher won't be able to do so again for nine months or so as he has torn his ACL. Wish him well in his recovery. That is a nasty injury for any player to suffer. But it has to be said that players are their own worst enemy in this situation and bring out the cynical attitude in fans. 2-1 up and deep into injury time, player goes down like he has been felled by a bazooka to run the clock down. And then - on most occasions - gets back up again and runs around like a 2 year old. How many times have we seen that in matches? Call it professionalism - maybe. Each of us will have a viewpoint on this. So it opens up the whole debate about this which in my opinion - for what it is worth - will not be resolved until (as in rugby for example) - there is some independent time keeping going on and the clock is stopped (and seen to be stopped) by the ref until sorted. In which case - "stay down as long as you like old chap - the clock has stopped". Which may discourage this activity. But don't hold your breath that any such change will happen any time soon. And not sure of the practicalities of it. The ref will usually err on player safety - quite rightly so. But in reality currently it is variable how much refs then add on in these sorts of situations. Players (and fans) know this and use it to their advantage (and cynicism). Or of course - we could get a bit more honesty from players in general. PS - For clarity I wasn't one of those who were booing the player (never do) - I had long gone comatose on our chances of getting anything out of that game!

The bloke was obviously hurt, it was embarrassing him being booed when being stretchered off. Hope the recovery goes well for him.

Must admit wasn't aware that happened (like I said was comatose and little interested by that point!). In which case I would concur with your comments. I thought it was more whilst he was actually down on the pitch. My point was more about the general situation you normally see in those situations as I described. Once again - wish him well in his recovery.

Putting to one side the injury on Tuesday evening, I totally agree with the broader points that you make. It's high time that football got to grips with the problem of time-wasting, and the example that you give of rugby is a good one. In fact there are a number of ''good points'' that football could take from rugby, arguing with the referee is one. And although it's not strictly relevant, I do like the way that rugby players don't surround the referee with their protests, and if they do speak to the referee they address him as ''sir.'' Perhaps when Messrs Blatter and Platini's issues have been resolved then there might be some progress made not just on this issue, but on a range of issues that have blighted the game in recent decades. But somehow I doubt it.
