It was dodgy alright. A sign of refs clamping down on certain fouls for the new season I reckon, but I couldn't for the life of me see a sending off offence there. Then JF-H surrendering possession like he did after just a minute was equally absurd. We had so much possession that we didn't know what to do with it at times. We just played off the second half like a training session. Possession for Rovers hovered around the 70% mark. Assuming there was a trip/contact (no one seemed to dispute that) then Aaron was through on goal. Definite red card imo.

Think, it would have made a big difference if we`d had Finley and Coutts in midfield last Sat, instead of Westbrook and Rossiter.
Coutts available for next Saturday. Good news.

Just got back..
What an amazing away day...!? The scenes in bar at half time if you were there hit euphoric heights.
Everything delivered, and Finley inclusion made a huge influence to an already boosted surprise inclusion of Flash Gordon.
My m o m Collins. Devastating. Delivering. Confident. His playing journey has definitely improved since his arrival.
Big shout out to Connolly. What a scuppered finish to settle us down, a well timed entrance to open his account this season, but more importantly he instinctively knew where to be to slot home. Calm and composed at the back, but marshalled his job efficiently. It's been a long time since we had a real goalscoring threat from CM, especially for set pieces....
I fear for Burton. Worry for them. They looked lost and devoid of any cohesion about how to go about their game. Ok they lost a man early but from then on it really was men v boys. Anthony Evans started the mauling with a sublime free kick (what was the wall doing?), so when you have him I just don't think you understand............well Burton, you do now.
And, if they're not careful, this division will be gone for a Burton too.

Looked to me like our player (Collins?) simply ran into the defender and went to ground. Ross Joyce owes us big time after some appalling decisions against us in the past - but I'd prefer he never refereed ever again rather than risk having him try to level things up in another match with another terrible decision against us. Utterly, utterly useless. Excellent performance from us too.... Suspect Finley made the difference, and having Coutts back again will improve us still further. These two were the bedrock of last season's success in my opinion

My m o m Collins. Devastating. Delivering. Confident. His playing journey has definitely improved since his arrival. The goal he scored against Oxford, really seemed to kick start his season. Since then, he`s gone from strength to strength. If he carries on, I can see some tasty bids being put in for him, in the New Year.

If Barton fills the gaps in the squad in the way he articulates then Saturday proved I think that this team carried the confidence from last season's surge to promotion over into this season. It was only one game I know but with a player like Collins, who is developing into one of the best strikers we have had for many a year, this could be an exciting season. Good business then when his contract was extended so quickly post season.

All four from a side who won’t have a problem having a good season. We are top 10 in this league, once we grind old legs up through the gears. the cup win over Oxford like a lightening bolt to our Frankenstein monster team last season, not just Collins. My “gumper” mate reckoned Collins would score a few worldies but not get in double figures for us, Collins seems to have woken up now snakey style. Could the new problem be holding onto him before window closes? 🫢
