Stephen Byrne tells me that unless we score before the 64th minute tonight at Bolton we will have created an unwelcome new Club record. Currently on 497 minutes without a league goal with the Club record of 560 minutes.
7 Oct 1922 Sam Furniss scored on 75 mins against Southend before Tom Howarth on 25 Nov 1922 scored 5 mins into Charlton match.
Ben Garner and his underperforming side need to really step up to the plate and finally score our first goal of the decade.

We are the only team in England (top 4 tiers anyway) not to have scored a league goal in 2020. Chances of breaking that this evening... mmm...

They'd put a pretty decent side together by the time they played us at the Mem and beat us so easily that I Remember thinking they could knock down that deficit by the time we meet them at their place, but their little run fizzled out and they've now suffered 4 defeats on the trot. It would be just like us in our present state of limbo to lose this one.

We'll win tonight. This is based on nothing, other than eternal optimism and a belief in the boss.

1 - 0 if Upson plays
1 - 3 if he doesn't (sorry, this is the second post against him, but for me he doesn't currently work in our team - what does I guess.....)

BEN G says if we score "I think so (it'll raise confidence), but my confidence isn't dented at all. I'm optimistic about where we're going and the process and I know sometimes people and the supporters don't see where we're going to get to yet. I'm confident about the job we're doing, I'm confident about the direction we're going in and we've just got to stay positive and stick to that. "It'd be easy perhaps to take short cuts and try and improve things in the short term but I don't think that's right for the Club and what we want to develop here. It's important we stick with the end goal in mind, we want to achieve wins and quickly as possible, but I'm not going to deviate from that plan and where the clubs going. I think we need to do what's right for the club in the long term as well as the short term."
Glad he is not taking short cuts then...in 1922 VAR meant a Very Aggressive Rover no shirt advertising only the odd Woodbine advert around the stadium.no subs, no squad rotation, no sausage rolls for fans only gruel and water for sale and not in plastic bottles, no electronic scoreboard, no floodlights and only fans who wore caps and hats were allowed in and that included females. The players travelled by GWR trains and did not have Agents. No mobile phones you had to be posh to even have a landline. No highlights of matches on Quest. No option to buy tickets was cash only and no replica shirts for sale. No gambling on matches juston dog and cock fighting events.

We have to turn this form around at some stage...just don't think it's going to be tonight. I feel another 3-0 defeat is on the cards and I'm usually an optimist! UTG
