Frustrating! We sounded very poor defensively. But here's to bouncing back against Crawley next Saturday! COYB Very dissapointing, but this isnt a disaster. We have lost a lot matches this season but we haven't been bogged down with lots of draws like in many previous seasons, much better to win a few and lose a few. There is no excuse for defending like that though and DC needs to sort it proto or we aren't doing anything. We have a good young defender called Tom Lockyer, who has been away on international duty. I imagine he will be back in the team for our next game.

I don't think we have really sorted the CB slots out to full effectiveness.
Both Macca and Parkes look like accidents waiting to happen. I would prefer Lockyer and James Clark as the 2 CB's and Leads back at RB, but hey what do I know.
Then get Leon Legge from Cambridge in the summer who would either compliment or replace Lockyer well.

It had seemed like Clarke had wanted to avoid playing Mchrystal and Parkes together so it was unexpected to see the team yesterday.
I think we would have been better off sticking to James Clarke and Macca / Parkes in the middle but Darrell doesn't seem to trust Leadbitter too much in away games.
Anyway, one loss is all. We're still well in this. There is no way any of Oxford, Plymouth or Accrington will win all of their remaining games and even now we won't have to either. 7 games left of which 4 are at home. 5 wins should do it?

We were never going to win every game left, it's about how you react to a set back. Keep cool, keep together, go win the next game. Well said fella. That's the spirit. I guess we have now grown to expect not only a win but one in a suitable fashion. Still a lot of football to be played and this will test the mettle of those other clubs in that top 7. We have the experience from last season and momentum going into this. If someone had said we would return 18 from 21 then I'd have said hold onto your horses. Onwards and upwards. DC has got this and the boys don't like losing. I am pretty positive we will sort this. I am not used to this level of optimism

No link my friend, just enjoyed putting little pics on the attendance predictions on t'other forum but that has disappeared so indulge myself sometimes.Love cats.Just back from Carlisle.Really missed Tom Locks. My cat is an absolute b******. I got 4 & the smallest is 9kg. The biggest is 14Kg and luckily he is a dopey and soft boy. My nastiest is the small female, try giving her a tablet and you'll see just want damage a pussy cat can do. I bear scars that some really think I've been cut by a Stanley blade

Fair comment on the CB. I can't help but wonder why Parkes seems to have confidence issues as he came to us and was improving for a decent period. I don't know anything of Legge but I guess we will be seeing a fair few new faces, during the off season

Parkes (for me) is too inconsistent and I don't believe he has progressed since he first came here, in fact he may have gone backwards. Don't get me wrong he would get into most sides in this division but you need CB's you can rely on and he makes too many errors. Legge is a no-nonsense player, one I'd go for if we are in L2 next season. wins everything in the air, not much gets past him on the floor and is getting rave reviews this season from CUFC and rival fans.

I've watched Cambridge twice this season and "wow, that centre half is good!" is not what I thought either time, to be honest.
Edit: although apparently he didn't play in the away game!

I guess their fans wouldn't be too happy if we got him given the Gaffney seemed to be a fans favourite. I am am really hoping we manage to go up this year as I think this would give the team and, more importantly, the owners, the impetus to really push on. I think the upturn in people attending will not be as high, were we to remain L2, I actually now expect us to win most games though I did have a gut feel that Carlisle would be a disappointment. The people coming back to watch games will want there to be success. Many see that as part time fans but I don't, I just see it as quite normal in that people pay for entertainment and we are providing that right now. Will people be as eager to come if we are still L2 next season ?

I thought he did ok at home recently but wasn't helped by his teammates.
Saying that if you asked Portsmouth fans what they thought of us this season the answers wouldn't be very nice to hear?!!

If we are in L2 people will return if we are winning but the expectancy after this season will be greater.
Anything less than improvement over the season before is harshly generally thought of as failure. I still feel aggrieved we are even in L2 but I guess if its good enough for Portsmouth and Plymouth....
I think there wasn't any real expectancy of us challenging this season which is why we are all enjoying it so much, and not being too hard on them when we don't win. Long may it continue!

I still feel aggrieved we are even in L2 but I guess if its good enough for Portsmouth and Plymouth.... Good, so do I, and it's probably not. I never adjusted to the fourth division, nor do I think we should. It's not the 'promised land' (BRFC, 2015). It's beneath where either pro club of a city like Bristol should consider a resting place. Mid 3rd Division is surely Rovers' natural resting place, and all 'big' league clubs should aspire to achieve more, i.e. promotion to the upper two divisions and ambitious cup runs. Attendences go up and down with form, but the long-term trend requires parity/competition with our city rivals in the divisions above this league basement division, the football played therein being of variable entertainment, to say the least. If we want to fill a big shiny new home then we need to be above the fourth division and rivalling BCFC1982. Had we remained longer in non-league we'd have been invisible to a generation of kids. Promotion is vital to their taking real notice of BRFC. I shudder to hear non-Bristolians refer to the other lot as 'Bristol' in the manner that single team city clubs Hull City and Leicester City are abbreviated. Nobody calls Man City 'Manchester', or Sheff Utd 'Sheffield'.
