There's an element of 'flatters to deceive ' about Quansah. He's got a touch of class, but as at 3rd tier level and at this early stage of his career,he struggles to win defensive headers. Involved in both Shrews goals, dominated by Shrews attacking players. Not the first time he's lost out in heading duels in his time at Rovers. Sometimes he's got away with it by making great tackles to retrieve a situation ,but not always and not last night. He's young,I think he'll improve and maybe play at a higher level, but he's too often been a defensive liability at Rovers. He must improve his defensive heading and next season Rovers need a dominant CH. Maybe Quansah if he makes the needed improvement but I would'nt want him back unless he did. Agree with most of that Bas, don’t want to be harsh on a young player who does have talent, but I think he is being asked to play a division above his current abilities. Thomas quitting Rovers for Barnsley did'nt help of course Taiwagas. Quansah was kind of thrown in perhaps too soon because of Thomas. I think Quansah is one of the reasons why Joe will look for players with more experience for next season.

Watching the sky sport highlights agree Quansah has had a nightmare on both goals. Ward could also have done better on the first and Balcombe might have done better on the second too. Leahy wanted it more than our two outfield players for his goal though.
A couple more thoughts from last night:
Have to feel sorry for Marquis. Had to feed off scraps whilst he was on the pitch and the minute he gets hooked we start slinging the ball into areas he would thrive on
Macdonald’s cameo was a good one and he might be worth another deal if he can perform like that consistently

Totally mishandling the Thomas situation, allowing our one experienced centre half to leave the club and then panicking and having to gamble on throwing a totally untried and young centre half into the fray with zero league experience

Not v impressed with ref Swabey. He is normally better than this snd letting them get away with lots especially kicking ball away. You just know he will book one of ours for it I just felt the ref was on the beach, as he just seemed to go through the motions

i'm just glad JB didn't shoot his mouth off about how he is too good for the division while finishing a poor 16/17th. Because that would be embarrassing for all concerned.
I don't want to hear 'we played well for 25 minutes' or 'they scored with their only two shots'. This doesn't matter - the only statistic that matters is the points you have at the end of the game. We have too few and unless JB bucks up his ideas and improves as a manager, we will have fewer next season.
Credit to Ms Smegma and the other fans who travelled/endured last night - once this damp squib of a season ends, I'm sure you will find something better to do on a Tuesday evening.

Just got back.. From ifollow.
There you have our season wrapped up in one match...
Poor start, potential on peripheral and finish stronger, not particularly managed well, many fans left disappointed with result but not performance. The feeling we didn't achieve our standard and left the match and season wondering " what if?"
That sums it up for me.
We missed opportunity for new promotion season bounce, but I do make some mitigation that Charlton apart, there's some big old clubs fighting it out in a tougher division than when we left it COVID season...
Ok...house keeping out the way. The loans will go back and you have to prepare without them next season. Gibson pick of the bunch for me.
McDonald didn't even get to a flurry. Bogarde looks better and better. Coburn gone off the boil since nyd....but for me m o m last night as got through helluva lotta work. Thomas was bombed out early, I quite liked him. Balconbe just doesn't make saves...well he didn't last night or Morecambe. He's one of those keepers nothing sticks to and every shot finds their way in. Nice distribution though, can't fault that...
Quansah ... I'm gonna say it, I place some of the blame on him for both goals last night and has thoroughly unimpressed me. Sure, he looks composed on the ball and can sometimes distribute, but his defensive actions are out of touch, not stopping the cross or shot and missing a hatful of headers free in the box to score (Luca caught his cold last night with a sitter)....a bit disappointed. Maybe I've set the bar high?
So, 2 goals down because we can't defend a simple set piece, and block a shot that went cleanly in from an acute angle that our loan keeper couldn't get something on...?
Who started them? Why?
Pre subs of: Gibbons, not for me. Bogarde, improving but only looking like we've seen a glimpse of what he offers. Marquis, tried to get the game going but struggled. Gordon, really like his dirty.
Finley, meh has looked a shadow recently. Ward, very good hope we can acquire him next season as he's handy.
Well I guess JAB management night need fine tuning too.
I get where we are, but I believe the much misaligned SC in post match tinterview.....we were beaten by a team with half our resources and a season of serious injuries sick notes and playing budget. They took 4 points off us - however horribly.
That sums it up for me.
To balance it, we played some beautiful, easy on the eye approach football last night with the 5 subs all contributing to a lovely, fluid display of possession based football.... and it has to be said, Shrewsbury dealt with most of it admirably in defence and their display of siege mentality reflected in SC post match emotional comments. A good advert on third division football.
...but I couldn't help but feel sorry for travelling faithful - again in amazing numbers - for a Tue night that just didn't matter league position-wise.
So, in summary a march that reflects the season - over all we done alright - just that, alright - and I'm neither JAB in (because he hasn't gotten anywhere near GC levels, nor JAB out (because we never looked relegation material), but I would ask if anyone else feels the same?
A great display but ultimately let down for various reasons.
That about sums it up for me.

Put it this way - I don't think Burnley will be loaning us any promising players in the near future. I would rather he had tried to reintegrate Kilgour, who had previously played very well at this level, than throw Quansah in the deep end. The Balcombe experiment also wasn't successful. If Jaakola is not in a position to challenge JB, then he should have been replaced at the start of the season.

None of us truly know what went on behind the scenes with Thomas but I thought he was quite decent for us especially when paired with Gibson and at both ends of the pitch too. Seems to me that he didn’t like the Barton technique of hanging players out to dry in public and voted with his feet. Quansah may one day be the best of these 3 centre backs but right now he is some margin behind both Thomas and Kilgour. Expecting him to be is putting a huge weight of expectation on his young and untried shoulders The Balcombe experiment has been equally disastrous and I have a feeling in my water that the best keeper we have had in ages will be at another club at the start of next season

I also thought that i had read, somewhere, that JB said he would be using different players in the last few games. I do understand why you would feel this way as i would have thought he would wish to look at JW rather than Balcombe. It’s been a bizarre season, for sure. We looked like we were going to compete at one stage and then we had the GK experiment. Our results took a tumble from that point onwards.
