I would respond. But you don't want me to go on ... so we'll leave it there.

Absolutely DrF. Like back in the 70s,when top veteran players ended their careers in the lower divisions. Commonsense if you can match the right player, club and manager. Cloughie signing Don Mackay at Derby, then becoming Champions is perga6a great example. Edit. Except County were also top division, but I think my point is made!Haha!. Alan Ball at Rovers eg. Dave Mackay isnt really a great example,he went to Derby who were a top team and played a few seasons for them. He actually finished his playing career at Swindon. Yeh,I realised he was'nt the best example Trymer, but,Derby were actually 2nd tier when he joined them,he was 33 and had I think dodgy knees. So the point was perhaps made.Just.🙂

Oldie. You ridiculed JBs and others ability to judge the improvement in attitude and effort of Luke Thomas a game or two ago. Not possible in "3 minutes" you posted, accompanied with mocking laughing figures. Look, check out Luke Thomas in the first part of the Walsall highlights. Then you'll see a changed player. Skillful, tenacious. Simply put, doing his best. Don't worry, it won't take 3 whole minutes. Only 33 seconds.

I questioned that once or twice and nobody seemed to know what Thomas actually did to turn him into the club's bad boy and Trooper Joey into an ace man-manager overnight. I've watched Thomas play all season and he's always gone out and given his all so where this "changed player" bollocks comes from is beyond me. It must be something he did off the field or he was just a handy scapegoat for Barton to feed to a baying crowd to deflect attention from his own failings. A bit like the Special One does everywhere he goes. I'd be delighted if somebody could tell me what he supposedly did without using fan bait words like attitude, effort, socks and lazy.

His socks were lazy, but have now improved their attitude.
Does it matter? He's playing really well.

I don't think it is bollocks at all. The most insightful bit of evidence is the interview that Luke gave himself, acknowledging that he needed a kick up the ass. I really don't think that he was following anyone else's script than his own during that open and refreshing interview.
I'd also observe from his (limited) appearances early in the season, he was nowhere near as active, aggressive or productive as he has been in recent games. The Oldham game being a prime case in point.

Well posted Curly. The stuff from the anti Barton brigade grows ever more ridiculous. The sooner they stop their silly uppitiness, open their eyes to what a great era we've entered into and get on board the better! For all of us!🙂👍

I'm just glad that Luke Thomas is now performing at the level he is capable of. He looks a bit leaner, but regardless of that he's now a real threat to defences.
Being honest, I did think Barton's comments post-Salford were unfair if it was just based on Thomas missing a one-on-one. There was clearly more to it and I think it has had the desired effect on Luke Thomas.

Well said. Yeah but he hanged him out in public, a bit strong for a young lad needing to be pointed in the right direction innit? And Barton's getting all the plaudits for sorting him out when all he needed was a quiet word.

He let people down, that's what the player said.He also said the public telling off JB gave him was what he needed. Luke will probably be a much happier bloke now than when - for whatever reason - he was'nt firing on all cylinders. Now we have a 2nd tier standard player giving his all for us in the 4th. Good business.👍 I agree you could see he was a good player before the JB telling off,but there must of been something going on. Now,he looks like he's got the bit between his teeth. He wants that ball!

Which is great for our club.

A quiet word, and an arm around the shoulder, had already been tried by JB and some of the senior players. Thomas has said that Barton did was what needed to shake him up, why do people presume that they can read the situation better than the player himself?

Some people hate Barton so much, that they react negatively to everything he does.
